Cant say without spoilers. Honestly, Im not really looking forward to this. And this is coming from someone who gave such high marks to their most recent title. This is in some ways simplifying the game play too much. Movement would be a good thing. It wont be as easy as you might think but still, it is a step backward in my view. Also, the lack of true story depth is disappointing. And dont get me started on the atrocious marketing. Ive beaten that horse to death. Will I review it? Frankly, Id have to be convinced.

Well, we didnt have to wait too long. I havent played this yet but am going to after posting this. It is better if you have played the previous title A Dark Room first before trying the game. Official description:Have to survive. The wars not over. The Ensign is a Prequel to the critically acclaimed experience: A Dark Room iOS.It is strongly recommended that you complete A Dark Room before playing The Ensign.Words from the creator of The Ensign, Amir:I really loved traversing the Dusty Path (more so than balancing an economy and upgrading gear). This prequel is a *brutally* difficult rendition of the Dusty Path that covers the events directly before A Dark Room. I wanted to make a strategy game that had high replay value, as opposed to a game about discovery. Best of luck to whoever attempts this game. I imagine few will succeed in completing all of it.Grab it

Re: Paladin of the Sky, new full length audio game RPG

An issue I have with the game (and if this was mentioned earlier I missed it) is the music. Much of it from what Ive gathered comes from composer Kevin MacLeod. On the surface, this isnt a problem, he offers much of his work under a royalty-free license. However, that is for noncommercial projects only. By definition, this game isnt a noncommercial project. Therefore, unless the rights to use the music were obtained, I see problems with it going forward. I like the idea and the execution. I just dont want to see something go ahead with out the appropriate steps being taken.

Re: Inquisitor’s Heartbeat for iOS is out! Plus price drop for PC and Mac!

The game is pretty decent. I personally do not like the counting steps method. Theres no sense of urgency when you are on a map with enemies; they just stay put. There is a skeleton of a story here but nothing to write home about. Why is the book so important? Does it have abilities? The mazes are a challenge. Voice acting is great. The variety of lines leaves something to be desired.

Re: New iOS Game: Proteus - The Tower of Terror

One cool thing is that if you purchase the bookmark it is able to be used a *lot* so you can really get a feel of the layout. Die? Its okay; you just unlocked an achievement. You can use the bookmark to save over saves. A point of confusion for some people is that the bookmark is a manual save. The game saves automatically but the bookmark is a nice touch. Also a cheat death card is an optional purchase. What really matters as far as your stats goes are two things: 1. Your dexterity. The higher the dexterity, the less you need to roll during combat to achieve higher numbers. 2. Strength. It equates to health points here. The higher the number, the more chances you have to survive when a string of bad rolls comes your way in battle.

Re: New iOS Game: Proteus - The Tower of Terror

Good luck with that. Dead ends do not count as achievements. Death traps on the other hand ... I shall say no more. The game does require flicking left and right ... if you miss a possible option, just tap an area of the text, the page will turn, do the three finger swipe, and you will find the appropriate button. This comes in handy when you need to double tap the button to roll dice for example or if you have the right key, choosing that instead of the other option.

In this interactive Gamebook adventure, you are at the Academy of the Grand Wizard Eleutheria. You have learned a great deal of magic, of the power ofreason, and the martial arts. Now you yearn for a challenge. You have heard stories of the town of Darkblood, to the East, apparently ruled over by a great but very evil Wizard. The idea in your mind becomes moreexciting — to journey to Darkblood. You wonder what you will find there... You leave the hut as the sun rises, and look at the Tower ahead. It is a forbidding structure, and reminds you of a volcano. But you press on, determined, pushing your way... until you reach the foot of the Tower. A stone archway is ahead of you, and beyond that is darkness. You take a torch from the wall.Lighting it, you walk back, through the archway, into the Tower of Terror...FEATURES- thrilling interactive story by David Brunskill- all of the original artwork, lovingly animated- all new art created exclusively for the interactive version- atmospheric sound and music effects- customizable animated dice- unique finger-swipe combat/dice-roll system- fully interactive Quest Sheet- Magic Map keeps automatically tracks your progress- Bookmarks to save your progress automatically and manually- supports Dynamic Type (adjustable text size)- supports VoiceOver (listen to the text)- GameCenter achievements- dozens of ways to die!About PROTEUS Proteus was published in the late 1980’s as a periodical “complete solo adventure game magazine in which you play the role of the Hero”, originally byIPC Magazine Ltd. and later by Wimborne Publishing. Additionally, you can disable In-App purchases entirely in your device settings.**Other than the map not being accessible, this app is worth trying out. In theory, you only need to purchase one bookmark from the shop. It took me several tries to complete the quest. Deaths occur often. It has some replay value but once you know how certain elements work, objectives will seem tedious. The music is pretty decent. The sound effects could be better. (Holy background hiss with several of them Batman.) Still, a pretty fun game overall.

Getting Dream Quest accessible. Leave your feedback.

2014-05-28 Thread AudioGames . net ForumNew releases room : AstralAudio via Audiogames-reflector

Getting Dream Quest accessible. Leave your feedback.

A lot of what Im posting is noted on the AppleVis forums. Im posting it here so you all know what is going on. Im not the developer of this iOS title but want to spread the word. The game description is below with my thoughts afterwards.Play cards! Kill monsters! Level Up!Dream Quest is a roguelike deckbuilding game inspired by the likes of Ascension, Magic: the Gathering, and Shandalar. Explore randomly generated levelsas one of 13 classes in short, 30 minute, sessions. One floor might find your wizard in the crypt, another your warrior underwater, and a third, your assassinstalking a volcanic wasteland. As you progress, your characters earn achievements, each making your future runs a little easier or more interesting.Combat is a card game. Your abilities are a deck of cards that you develop as you gain power. For example, a thief starts with a handful of Slice cardsand a Backstab, but can learn defensive moves like Dodge or powerful finishing moves like Coup de Grace. Carefully choosing which cards to add to yourdeck is the heart of the game: wise choices will find you slicing through monsters while poor ones will leave you tripping over your own two feet.Features:‧13 different classes, with wildly different play styles‧Over 300 cards, ranging from the defensive Kick and Armor to the devastating Meteor and Curse of Doom‧More than 70 monsters carefully catalogued in the Bestiary as you encounter them‧Infinite replayability – easily 50 hours to see the majority of the content‧No In App Purchases – the price of the game is the price of the game. Everything is unlocked only by playing.Reviews of Version 1.0 have been fantastic! Examples include:Dont be fooled by its simplistic stick-figure art – Dream Quest brings together roguelike dungeon-crawling and deckbuilding to create a truly uniquechallenge-IGNThis game is really one of a kind. The mix between rogue-like and cards is really well done...Kudos to the dev for such an innovative and challenginggame-Mike32, TouchArcadeIf you can get past the simplistic graphics, youre looking at a very interesting, strategic game. Ive already lost a few hours to it - the kind of hourswhere you wonder where the time went. Outstanding game!-CitronautFirst, if you are excited about this game and think you can simply play it after purchasing, the developer suggests you do not buy at this time. I tested this game myself when I first heard about it. VoiceOver isnt playing nice with the game engine used to make the game.Second, he isnt experienced with doing something like this; turning something from inaccessible to accessible. However, he is enthusiastic about trying to make this work. Here are some thoughts for what he has in mind (taken from his post on AppleVis). Most of the interactable UI objects are just buttons. It seems like the right thing here is one-touch reads the text (or a short description I create forimaged buttons) and double-tap presses it.There are large swathes of text, a number of which are very long and completely irrelevant to the game play. Id like them to be available, but if youhad the treasure chest description read to you 100 times, youd go crazy. Is the best thing here tap to read by paragraph? By whole text? Or single-clickto say You found a treasure chest, double-click to read the whole thing? For interacting with the dungeon, my proposal is to have single-click read the things there with the same level of information the visual UI gives (soclicking on a monster that youre next to says Level 7 Faerie Rogue, but one far away is just Faerie Rogue) and double-clicking moves you to that place(as if youd single-clicked in the current UI). Moving to a place would then again read the information, confirming that youd successfully gotten there(since you can get ambushed on the way). For things that happen with a visual cue, just read the text out loud - it happens infrequently and the text is short. For combat, click on a card to get its name, double click to read the full text, and drag to the center to play, drag to the graveyard to discard (sameas the standard UI, kind of). Clicking on things that usually pop up text just reads the text instead. Whenever the enemy plays a card, read the name ofthe card it played. When the enemy is done with its turn and its your turn again, say so. Expanding the discard pile and equipment pile works as normal except that closing it has to be done by clicking the same place rather than anywhere sothat you can actually examine the cards that come up. Alternatively, it could read the names of those cards as it pops them up.Off the top of my head, thats most things. The hardest for me is the text since it doesnt really work in a way thats conducive to clicking right now.How does this sound? Are there aspects of this that are actually horrible or clever things (or obvious things) I havent thought about? Thanks a
