The thing is, he could. That ain't gonna happen though until he's willing to both acknowledge, and work on his personality faults. Then put in the time to study and get to know python, or any other fucking language other than BGT. He's fucking himself over by staying on this course. It's like if he's the captain of a fishing boat who is inexperienced, but got good word that a bad storm is coming for them, and he continues further out to sea rather than turning around. It's stubborn, and when that storm hits, his boat gets capsized and everyone dies.

Good god, so he threw you out of the dev team, but he's still hosting his game on your server. If there's any truth to the post above, he's jacking your system load to 100%, which, if it's on the same box that your other stuff is on, it'll start to impact things.Dude, it's like whenever I think I'm possibly judging him too harshly, he gives me another reason to not respect him. But still, his supporters will continue to support him I guess. Time marches on and all that. It's just sad, because as you say, him and his projects have potential. None of that potential wil be realized until he straightens the hell up though.There is just no way to reach him. His head is solid concrete and even diamond-tipped concrete drill bits don't penetrate it, because it's so thick. Definitely. One thing I was thinking is what if there were flying creatures, because everything seems to be on the ground. Or animals that may not let you get too close to them at first, but if you stay with them long enough, they may get curious and let you ride them.I've been using it to fall asleep to actualy. I'l. go to an interesting place and just stop and listen until I drop off.This new thing sounds like it could do that and more.

So I'm really wondering if this game has the ability to write some of its own logic code. The reason I'm pondering over this is that I tried two different seeds and got different results as far as a particular thing. Before I elaborate though, did you know that it doesn't just generate stationary ambiences? It makes moving things as well.Now to the interesting part. I generated a world that had moving vehicles. Not only that, but they sounded very convincing. Yes, they definitely sounded synthetic, but in whatever way synthesized sounds can sound real enough that you just kind of ignore the fact that they're synthesized at all, that's how these are. They sound futuristic, but also, you hear things that sound like big rigs with air brakes.In this first world, the vehicles took no notion to me, except to beep at me. Yes, you heard this right, they beep at me if I'm too close to where they're driving. If I back off a little and stand there, they go by without honking at me. If I stood in the way, they would just run right through me. However, in the second world I generated that actually contained vehicles, not only did they beep at me, but they stopped for me as well. If I was in the path, they would slow down and stop, waiting for me to go by before continuing. They would also randomly stop, as if signaled to do so by a traffic light or stop sign, but then continue. Without fail though, any time I was in their path, they would stop for me.So what grants the vehicles in the second world this need or want to stop for me, when the first vehicles would just drive through me. Is this game literally writing some of its own code?If you want to experience this for yourself and you have the game, use the seed, "fridge-going-out", without the quotes. Which, as an aside, is something that's happening to me IRL so I thought I'd try it as a seed. I don't know if this works in the demo or not. I bought the game outright because I liked every other game that this developer has come up with, so if you have the demo and can't access free roam, or it doesn't let you input a seed, that's probably why.

Yeah. Go to steampowered.com, grab the thing, install it. If you wish to use English, make sure that you select english even though it already appears to be selected. If you don't, you're steam will be in another language that uses glyphs. It's annoying to get set up because you need to use OCR to log in and get steam guard going but once you do it the first time, you can go into the desktop shortcut and at the end of the file, put -login   and always run steam from that shortcut.

I only just got around to checking this one out and I really like it. A few things still don't make sense, like the compass for one. I think the doc said something about it stopping when you stop walking, but it doesn't. I don't know if the sound is something I should be walking towards or away from, or even if this is indeed the compass. To me, it sounds like FM synthesis, and as you turn, you hear the modulator go into and out of tune with the carrier as it passes perfect intervals. When you have it centered, it's out of kilter, which kind of tells me avoid this, but I'm still not sure. The silence is when you're faced nearly 180 degrees away from it, so maybe that means you're on the right track?The explanation of how to control the instrument when using a gamepad is a bit lacking. It took me a minute to figure out that if you wanted to be able to access all 3 notes, you had to go around in a circle. The wider the circle, the louder / more velocity you applied. The smaller the circle, the quieter. Same for the pitch and modulation on the right stick. I noticed that up / down would bend a whole octave rather immediately, and when I started moving in circles, then I'd be able to more easily control the bend. I really like this approach though.I think more could be added to the controller though, for example, the bumpers could cycle presets, or use the D-pad for that and use the bumpers to select a new scale. I also think that on the instrument screen, you should be allowed to choose how many notes you want populated on the stick. It would sound awesome if you could have two or three octaves worth of notes laid out in pentatonic major or minor. Either way, it's quite a creative way to utilize the gamepad. I still have yet to connect up my MIDI controller, but that's next up on my todo list for this game.As an aside, if you ever decided to make a standalone synthesizer that had these features, and let you export the sounds, I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it were reasonably priced and the license was such that any sound I created from it was my own / royally free to use where I see fit. Something like this would be an excellent sound design tool. Either that, or a VST that could work within a DAW. Either way though, I could definitely see myself using a synth with all sorts of creative uses of a gamepad paired with a MIDI controller. That, and I don't really think we have any accessible wavetable synths. We could do with some accessible solutions in this area, as even if every single parameter is automatable, it still doesn't give good access to things like wavetables, mod matrices, etc.

I literally fell sleep playing this today lol. When I woke up, there was a treasure near me which I don't remember so either I was playing it in my sleep or I nodded off right after a scan.A few things. I wonder if we could have waves that have motion and volume. You do hear waves if you sit there idle and just listen, but for my purposes, I want to use them to launch off of . When I'm near the surface, I always get a few jumps in, but I think it would be fun to be able to get airborne using waves if you were heading into one.I wonder if it would be useful to put a cooldown on turbo mode? I wouldn't want to have to be forced to go the distance without it, but at the same time, it does make gathering treasures easier. Especially since the most trouble I have is lining up vertically. I can use the doppler effect to help which you don't really get a whole lot without turbo on, so it definitely makes things easier. Plus, if you're using a controller, you can just run in turbo all the time because you can modulate your speed with the analog inputs.

I like it so far, I think I'm going to buy the full version. One thing though, the fact that you see next next next next before every snippet of the story is really not needed, and I don't particularly like it. As the choices are labeled with, "choose", I feel this is sufficient to get the point across that anything not labeled with that is part of the story.

Experienced an odd crash where the sound cut abruptly, followed by a few seconds of a distorted sounding pulse wave, then the game was completely unresponsive. Couldn't find a place where it might store logs. Is there anything I can send along?

I like that. If you line it up well, that should be represented equally as if you don't, so things off to the side would still be off to the side as in a real photo.I wonder if we could have coral as well. Something that would slow you down if you entered it, giving a sort of interesting sound, but would have it's own ambient sounds as you just listened to them rather than trying to run through them.

Hmm, I wonder how much control you will ultimately have over what gets offloaded to the GPU, seeing as how it's HTML. How does the game even run, like did you have to make your own sort of browser? In either case, I wonder if you could set up hardware acceleration on it. That might help even if folks do want the graphics, since the realtime synthesis expects much from the CPU to begin with, then you add drawing the graphics on top of that.I wish I had a good way of mapping what it does to my CPU. Oh sure, I can take a sample before and after the game starts, but I want an average reading and I know that windows has a graphing function inside task manager, but it's not accessible. I could use Charm, but since it's sound based, it would kind of defeat the purpose of playing the game to begin with since it's producing its own sounds to give you a realtime idea of what your CPU, disk I/O and RAM are doing.

There are still things I don't understand, like what's the difference between the two scans. I would have thought the lower one would be for behind you and the higher would be for in front. Also I don't know why the controls are mislabeled on the page, in case it's deliberatepotentialspoilerThe left stick doesn't turn you. The best I can figure is it's akin to strafing if on foot, or side to side movement. The right stick will turn you though. This is confirmed not only by the directional indicators, but your facing direction in the status menu.I found it odd that directions were expressed in mathematical terms rather than compass directions. I'm probably not using the correct terminology, so in an attempt to clear things up, basically it's showing north as 90 degrees rather than 0 degrees like you'd see on a compass or heading indicator of an aircraft.I do love the physics though. How your vehicle has momentum and you can't just reverse and start going right away. If you have a controller, it respects analog input rather than treating it as digital. So when you press lightly, you will hear the sound of the engine. It will be low if not turbo and high on turbo, but either way, the more you press, the faster the burbles become. Same for turning and movement.When you hit a wall or the floor, you bounce off of it until you just end up losing all your velocity. When you pass by something, you get that doppler effect, but it also works when you pull away from something or climb / dive higher / lower than it. Also, the use of occlusion to denote things that are behind you is - well, I don't want to say brilliant, because it's 2021 and we've had this tech forever, but - at any rate, I'm glad it's being used that way.I love how you can come to the surface and jump the vehicle out of the water. It sounds so good, and the splash when it hits is satisfying. Can we also talk about the way the sound becomes muffled when you dive and clear when you rise to the surface? That's a hard thing to get right, nevermind the fact that it's synthesized. As a sound designer, I've spent time trying to get that effect just right, and it involves filtering and automation. Sometimes blending two different sounds together, one for the surface layer, and another for the underwater layer.Also, if you just want to fire it up and chill, it's good for that. Whether you're on the surface or down deep, you'll find interesting harmonies that will make you relax.

One of his games says it does realtime synthesis and needs a CPU of at least 3GHz. I don't know if this one is the same, though I have tried it on itch a while back. If so, that'll be the issue for a lot of people. Mine handles it fine but mine also runs at 3.9GHz boosting to 4.1 when it needs to.

From your pack, I'll do a side by side comparison of how it is currently, and how it should be if you were using my script.ppi.play(GetInfo("56").."/worlds/clok/steps/foliage/"..math.random(1,10)..".ogg",0,0,Gv)would becomeplay_random{"snd=steps/foliage/", max=10}And I think that wouldn't work because the patern is looking for some sort of thing like step1, step2, step3, step4, not just 1, 2, 3, 4. Though that could be fixed.

OK, regarding the Clok thing, I'm like a ways into it and it's just dawning on me that the benefits of doing this entire thing aren't really all that evident, as it won't really change the way things work. SO I'm not going to continue with it. But, if you want to work together on the sound pack for this MUD, then we can use it and it'll be fine because we're not trying to refactor the entire damn 500+ list of triggers.

Every sound trigger in the pack. The function call would look like this:play{snd="folder/sound-with-no-extension", vol="gv"}The vol is optional, it defaults to gv if not set, though note that yours are capitalized and mine are not. You would have to change that in a couple of places in the script to make it work with your way.I forget the signature for play_random and it is possible it still has issues, though it was working when I tested it. If you want, I could do the refactor for you. I could knock a lot of it out at once using a regular _expression_ search / replace pattern. It'll still take some time to craft a good regex and look over everything, but less time than doing it all manually.

yes, you have to add the functions that I coded. You need all of them really, because they all become involved in handling of sound. You also need the AcceleratorTo lines that I added.The Clok pack's biggest issue is 700 some odd instances of GetInfo(56) when it only needs to be called at startup and that information saved. It's a constant value, it won't change, so re-getting it won't do any good.

I can do the code, and I can do the sound design, but not the organizational shit.I wish you would put it up on github so I could contribute to it. I could add my code to the script file and we'd have three different volume categories, volume selection, and optional arguments for play sounds. The major difference in the way that my trigger works is that instead of doingppi.play(GetInfo(56).."worlds/awakened worlds/sounds/communication/radio.ogg", 0, 0, cv)You can do this:play{snd="communication/radio", vol="cv"}I know coding isn't your thing, so let me explain. The reason we're using braces rather than parens is because this is using something called a table constructor. All it means for the purposes of this discussion is that anything besides the sound itself is optional. If you don't give an argument, a default value is assumed. That is global volume, non-looping, and a balanced pan so it is in the middle of the stereo field. No need for the GetInfo thing, no need to put the .ogg on the end, it handles all that.In my script file, I also have the hotkeys F5 for lowering the selected volume, F6 for raising the selected volume, and F7 for cycling through volume categories. So far, I have gv, av, and cv mirroring your Clok pack though I didn't capitalize them. cv is for communications volume, and so far, I've got the radio and OOC sounds tied to communications volume.So while coding might not be your strength - as you've told me as much - you're hella strong in sound curation and organization. Why not combine what we both do well and make the best damn sound pack for any MUD ever made. Even if you can't find or would like a better option for a particular sound, designing sounds is kind of my thing, so it would work out well.

I think I'm bouta get on here in a minute. I implanted the code that I use to play sounds and the like using lua's table constructor so you can skip non-needed arguments. There's also the ability to play random from a set of sounds. So if you had sounds named throw1.ogg, throw2.ogg, throw3.ogg, etc., you could then have it pick one without having to do kludgy stuff in the function call to play. I can't remember if it has sequences yet for playing one sound after another using timing but yeah. I gotta put event sounds in, things go by so fast in this game.

The entire point is that you can't do all of these games and do them well. Pick one game, and put all you have into it. Personally, I'd suggest ROTU, since the concept is nice, I like the sound design for the interface sounds, etc. The lag just makes it unplayable though. If you can sort it out and get the server hosted somewhere that you can control it, then you're good.

You can do that, but a lot of the times, it puts you in a dilemma when they do stupid shit and you have to demote them, and by so doing, potentially damage your friendship.If I ran a game, the kinds of people I'd want as admins would be people I could honestly trust to run things from day to day. Consider that after I give them an onboarding, I'd be looking to them to do the majority of the work as far as administering the thing. Not that I couldn't or wouldn't step in if I saw something, or if someone brought something to my attention, but for the most part, I'd be coding.Now, when you put people in that spot who are volatile, or easily triggered, what you end up with is a shitty experience for everyone. When close to half your playerbase shouts no, don't put this person as an admin, and they actually have good reason, why the hell would you do it? I was there, I saw it go down. I said it aws a foolish thing to do.If he actually swallowed his pride and arrogance and made positive changes, my attitude towards him would not be what it is now.

I can admit that it's a little tacky of me to have said come to SBYW, given that I'm affiliated with the game in a staff position. I do still believe that it's not advertising anything because I gain nothing by doing it.Mohamed makes a good point about the constant nature of movement in FPs Vs. games like SBYW where once the map data is  sent, the server doesn't have to do an awful lot. That doesn't take away from the fact that we definitely could see some improvement where lag is concerned. I don't get how this thing is even playable.If the gameplay isn't bad enough, the choice to promote someone to an administrative position who absolutely should not be in one will have a negative effect on the game. Having snappy, rude, overbearing and childish admins will drain what remaining life is in this thing.

If there was a policy, the Bastard thing should have been dealt with far sooner.Another thing, if I'm an admin somewhere and I know a person doesn't like to be called something, I'm going to most likely step in when someone abuses it. I'd probably wait for the person to step up and see if it gets taken care of without intervension first, but if not, I'd say something to the person. Tunmi shouldn't have allowed people to call meatbag birdbird if he knew Meatbag didn't like it.Oh and Tunmi saying that it's unfair for meatbag to use the name Bastard to get people banned is the stupidest thing I've heard all day. He's the one that bans people, so in essence, he's insulting his own intelligence by stating that he can't detect entrapment or manipulation.

Left and right are unchanged, up and down make you go higher and lower on the screen, but that's related to like sidewalks and streets. If you've played Way of the passive Fist, it's like that. I don't own the game, but from Liam's playing of it, I can tell that's how it is. Also jump is still jump, except they give the illusion of height in graphics using shrinking shadows under you.
