Honestly its not that hard. If you've played with other consoles from the wii's  generation then you should be adequately prepared to handle it. I even knew a blind person who could boot up their game without a classic controller. You kids today with your talking consoles really have it good.

The sensor goes on top of the TV. If you have a TV thats mounted sky high on the wall, that will make using it a pain.Yeah, get a classic controller. Hold it in one hand and the remote in the other, then you can move the pointer with the left thumb stick. You will hear a low beep and feel a vibration in the remote when your pointer is over an option. Press a on either the controller or remote to activate it. Then use sound cues and l r to pick what you want, then navi with the pointer to the launch button which i think is in the top middle somewhere, and press a. Remember that on a classic controller, a, b, x and y are reversed from left to right when compared to an Xbox controller.

Re: Overuse of the word "friend" in English

Good posts 10 and 11, which explains why you hear us say friends a lot. Pretty much sums it up. I probably went off all philosophical because it was late and I was in that kind of mood, but I still stand by what I said, and I do think that social media has spoiled the term. In terms of close friends, I have maybe less than 10, maybe 4 or 5. Anyone I don't hate and needs a friend has one right here, like my sig implies, or like that song from toy story, and no, I don't throw that word around lightly or take my friends for granted.

Re: Overuse of the word "friend" in English

I kinda agree with that @3, which is why I added that bit about having to have been in a few conversations first. Personally though, I think that it is a dangerous thing to have only friends who think and act as you do. You're just creating an echo chamber for yourself if you do that. Who's going to warn you to stop if you're about to do something stupid, embarrassing, or life threatening? Only the one who cares about your safety and wellbeing, and that could be anyone, even someone you do not know. Blessed are the wounds of a friend, and cursed are the kisses of an enemy. if you're going to consider someone a friend whom you can count on, then they need to be brave enough to tell them you're wrong, and you need to be willing to consider their words. These disagreements are the fires that strengthen and refine the bond of friendship on the anvil of life.

Re: Overuse of the word "friend" in English

You must know, that there are different levels of friendships, beyond acquaintances. Even then, it is not uncommon for friends to have different opinions and perspectives on things. Also, people in the United States tend to be friendly to people they just met, current circumstances notwithstanding, so when we finally get around to leaving the country, we kinda have to adjust to people not smiling at one another in greeting and sticking to themselves. Therefore, do not think that you are the only one who feels as you do about the overuse of the word friend. Its just a cultural thing I guess.Speaking of the word, I can't remember the last time I made a conscious effort to say friend, though i have spoken to mine frequently. My closest friends I call brother, or sister. A friend to me is someone I don't have to be cautious around and can be friendly with. I hold no grudges and have as many enemies as I can count on half a hand, so that could mean that anyone is a friend, as my sig suggests. Thats just food for thought, and me being general, but I agree, mostly. If I and someone else have been in a few lengthy conversations and we get along, that is enough for me to consider them a friend.

Re: Fascinating article on earphoneless direct sound beaming

I'd like to try it too. The points brought up by 4 actually reminds me of how the 3ds was when it came out, and you had to hold your head and the console in the proposed sweet spot to keep the 3d effect from breaking, then Nintendo added a head tracking camera so you could have more freedom to move about without ruining 3d. Who's to say that the same method couldn't be applied here? From what I understood from the article, the beam would be able to track you so you could move about yo some extent and still be ok. To me, that still sounds pretty promising, and the tech can only get better from here. Plus, it can be awfully uncomfortable to wear headphones all the time.

I just hope that the vice president wasn't so caught up in making history that she forgets to do her job. You know, we really have come quite a ways. I remember back in 2000 when I was looking over a schoolmates notes where she wrote that a president of the states must be both white and male, and we have had that distinction shattered not once, but twice in the last 20 years. Say what you will about progress, but no one can complain that it is impossible for minorities or immigrants to make something of themselves around here, as demonstrated by the former governor of cali, former president Obama, and vice president elect Harris.

Not to under estimate the importance of who takes office next, but I'm less worried avout who i voted for than i am what i voted for. There was this proposition about getting non violent offenders out of jail and into correctional programs which sounds well and goodz but you don't need to be violent to cause people harm and get people killed. Things like fraud, dwatting, and sexual misconduct all do not require you to be violent and should get a heavy sentence in my opinion because of the physical,  financial  and psychological harm they cause. Additionally, who's to say that someone won't put on a show of good behavior just to lighten their sentence? I don't remember which way i voted on that, but i'm kicking myself still in case i was for the proposition. I like to take my time to read things carefully and to be sure that what i want is being checked. Not that i dont trust my brother, but that still leaves the issue of his patience, because he has to do twice the work. What method did you guys use to vote? Before, i used their accessible balid readers, but my brother had to help me this time, which was a pain.

If they suddenly got a large sum of cash, they wouldn't know what to do with it. I was completely shocked to see my other half's side of the family blow through 500 dollars in a week on going out. Re: Let's discuss

Ok, the example of Nintendo vs sega is a bad one because even though sega isn't making hardware anymore, Nintendo is also nit the only console manufacturer in terms of video games, so there is still competition in the gaming market between them, Sony and Microsoft. Microsoft and Sony are always trying to outdo one another, and Nintendo continues to do its own thing. Each branch continues to serve a particular group of gamers. I will sight examples where competition has fostered innovation, because I have already spoken of how the lack of competition has lead to the stagnation of electronic arts sports games. When capcom licensed their beat em up final fight to be released on the snes, many sacrifices had to be made to fit the game onto the cartridge, making the port inferior. In response, sega developed streets of rage for the megadrive from the ground up do that no sacrifices had to be made, giving players 3 characters to choose from, cooperative play, improvement to the combat system, a complete set of stages, and multiple endings, all of which was lacking in the snes version of final fight, making the megadrive's streets of rage superior. When street fighter 2 popularized the fighting genre in 1991, everyone tried to copy them, and we got some great franchises out of all the different game devs trying to one up each other and trying to bring new elements such as weapons and finishing moves to the genre. Thefe are tons more examples like these, and not just game related that absolutely prove that competition has bred innovation. I can guarantee that in an alternate universe where only capcom was allowed to make fighting games, and where Nintendo were the only one allowed to make home consoles, the gaming landscape would have died out long ago, because people would have gotten sick of playing the same thing over and over again, and developers would be content to hash out the same products over and over again, because that was all there was to buy. I stress again the example I sited earlier about how EA has all the licenses to all the major sports brands, so they can just change the numbers and a few animations of their old games and release them as new games without fear, because no one else is there to make better games than they that includes the same amount of brand recognition. People are starting to see that now, and they are growing discontent. Just look at critic and user  reviews for the different sports games such as fifa, Madan, for the last 5 years and you will see how they have declined. The opposite of innovation is stagnation, and this is a classic case of it.

Re: Let's discuss

Ok, the example of Nintendo vs sega is a bad one because even though sega isn't making hardware anymore, Nintendo is also nit the only console manufacturer in terms of video games, so there is still competition between them, Sony and Microsoft. When street fighter 2 popularized the fighting genre in 1991, everyone tried to copy them, and we got some great franchises out of all the different game dwvs trying to one up each other and trying to bring new elements such as weapons and finishing moves to the genre.

Without competition, there is no need for inovation, because people and companies can just keep churning out the same junk and no one can complain. Thats kinda how a monopoly works. You take hold of everything and don't no one can do anything about it and only you profit from what you have.  just look at what electronic arts did to their sports franchises. They hold all the licenses to all the major sports teams, fifa, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and they are content to rehash and release the same game each year with minor updates to reflect the times, all while charging full price for their product they released years ago and squeezing every penny out of the consumer. No one else can make better games, because no one else holds the licenses, so now that is leading to stagnation, and the creators of these products are content to ride on the backs of what they created years ago as they use lootboxes to drain more money from the consumer.

Thats not what I took away from the experience though. I just feel like whatever system they are using is broken, and the government isn't doing enough for the people. By the same token, no one is having to pour money into some kind of governmental fund, so they don't have money to help if they wanted to. In a society like that, its every man for himself, and many people dream of going west and making big money, clueless to the fact that a good chunk of that money will go through taxes into government hands, where it is supposed to go back into improving things for the people. That is why the conditions are rubbish over there, because such a system is not used or is poorly managed if it exists, but here, the rich are only getting richer, and the poor are paying the price, but at least living conditions are still nicer, and the water is safe to drink.

In the USA, the richest people hold over half of our total wealth. However, we at least have governments who are supposed to use our tax dollars for things like public school, citu projects and the like. When I was looking at job listings in vietnam, i saw job listings paying seventy five cents an hour to work part time at an outdoor resturant. The highest job listing paid fibe hundred dollars a months to work at a grocery store. To put things in perspective,, the average minimum waye in the states is about 14 dollars, and my brother got payed twice as much as i saw for the grocery job in two weeks working at an amusement park,, and is even now getting unemployment pay because of the pandemic,, whereas the average vietnamese citizen gets payed nine dollars average a day and gets absolutely nothing if they cannot work.. furthermore, people have to pay tuition for their kids to go to school, most kids drop out after 8th grade to enter the work force to help support the family. Nearly every hotel i stayed at had something broken in their rooms. The rivers and street smell like manure because humans think that it is acceptable to dump their body waste into the rivers. Most houses don't have bath tubs or proper showers, opting just for a toilet and showering home in their bathrooms. Some houses don't even have toilets. Its affected the people and their lifestyle so greatly that they are prone to spend on things that instantly gratify, rather than save up and invest in long term things of necessity. I've been to houses where they got the best karioki system on the block, but the bathrooms ain't got no shower, the running water is little more than a trickle, the walls are crumbling and the roof leaks every time it rains. I've lives there for nearly a year if you combine all of the trips I took back and fourth, and believe me when I say that this is not, absolutely not an exaggeration. Some of you guys don't know how good you have it until it's gone. Some of you guys don't know how bad you have it until you experience what's on the other side. Wherever you fall, don't take for granted what you do have.

Doesn't vother me either way, but it is certqinly a safeguard against idiots who make a drama filled topic then try to pretend like nothing happened by deleting it. Plus, if people start a topic and others contribute useful insight and resources to the topic, that stuff goes down the toilet once the topic is deleted. Once someone contributes to your topic, it isn't just your topic anymore. If you stuck something in the wrong room, just request a move. Mods are on top of their game when it comes to that.

Re: Netflix and Audio Description

Where audio description becomes important in anime is in the unspoken details. For exanple, in season 1 of high score girl, you'd never know what haruo gabe to ono as a gift because it is never spoken, but what it simbolizes is important to the plot. The same is true for the very last episode of rurouni kenshin, and there is definitely no audio description for that yet so i still don't know what Kaoru gabe to Kenshib. Generally though, its not too hard to follow anime without audio description. Also, it is true that netflix has it in the original language, however requesting them in english is provlematic from what i learned las5 time, but i think you can get in contact with support staff from the web or mobile app.

Re: horror books recommendation about halloween

Goosebumps is an easy recommendation of series to read and bindge watch if you want some good fun with a dose of spook. Also, most things from stephen king, most notably It, and The Shining. Just be careful you don't lose sleep due to being too freaked out. When i was younger, i finished reading the shining, and the same night i woke up hearing a girl scream in terror despite not having a nightmare.@2 Halloween, celebrated on the 31st of october, is the day when the vail between the living and the dead, or the physical and spiritual realms are temporarily lowered. Kids celebrate it by dressing up in costumes and knocking on people's doors for treats, usually candy, but it depends on whoever is giving them out. People generally tell ghost stories, or watch horror movies and try to scare themself silly for fun. Some people take things a step farther and practice dark rituals to try and communicate with the dead. Me, i just like to have fun, because sometimes a good scare is thrilling and reminds me not to panic when things get scary for real, but I make a concious effort not to take things too far. Mucking around with the spiritual and/or tramatizing yourself is dangerous business.

If the chinese goverment is leaching off of Taiwan, then they are doing exactly what the brits were doing to us back in the day.Word of advice. Don't trust anything that the news and government there tell you blindly,. As you just demonstrated, the information you receive is being filtered, with cover stories to satisfy the curiosity of anyone who hears condemning accusations from the outside. Even when i was in vietnam, i started noticing that there were a lot of news sites and vudeos i could not access anymore. That EU and USA should have access to the same news sources that you can't should make you very suspicious. Also, be careful what you say and do and research. This is why i could never make my home in vietnam. Some people here don't care avout what goes on in the news, so living there  doesn't bother them, but not me. I don't like people restricting what i can read, say and do. I already seen some of that here where the parents of some kids will absolutely not allow them to stray from the family religion and would avsolutely freak out if they saw their kid with literature of other faiths. I am just fortunate that my dad isn't that kind of dad and that my grandfather passed away long before i decided that following vudhism just because my dad's side of the family did was fake belief, so i try not to take my liberties for granted, because i know that there are people who have it worse.

@58/59, thanks. I only found out about it througj or the contraversy surrounding disney's live action remake of Mulan, because apparently they philmed in the area indicated in post 58 and thanked the chinese government for letting them shoot there. Its almost as though the camps don't matter to them, and i already said this in my first post here, but the cyber space security ordered chinese media outlets not to cover disney's libe action Mulan because of the contraversy surrounding it. I mean, why else would you do that, unless you had something to hide. If someone paid the media not to cover an issue here in the states, you can bet that thats gonna raise a lot of eyebrows, and that some upstanding journalist is going to follow a story in persuit of truth. That's just supposed to be the norm around here. Furthermore, why would you try to distence yourself from someone who knowing that it was going to upset many people, took the time to propperly thank you? That just makes you look more suspicious.Furthermore, to argue against the acceptance of minorities in China by the government, i've started seeing stories avout alterations to posters and movie scripts to minimize the presence of afrucan american actors in order to better to better appeal to the chinese audience. On top of that, i only yesterday saw a headline on an article about how a Japanese named street in china was shut down because apparently the people were getting too patriotic or something. You should know that here in the USA, we have entire districts like china town and japan town dedicated to ethnic minorities, and no government authority  sees them as being unpatriotic.

So if blm randomly spraypaints a mural like the one they did in my city street, isn't that considered graffiti? Yet the city council can't decide what to do with it for fear of hurting people's feelings and being labeled as racists. If it were anyone else, they'd be fined out their asses for defacing public property. There are articles on this and um in San Jose California if you wanna look it up. I think that enough people are talking about this is proof that their concerns about the organization are not unfounded.

Re: Discussion of the 2020 American Federal Election

I saw a recent video about how crime  rate in kiniapolus went way up this year because the cops there were way under funded and spread thin. Believe it or not, police presence is what keeps people from committing crimes, because they know they gonna he caught. Howevrr, because of a lack of police presence, crime is happening because people know they can get away with it, and when someone calls umin asking where the cops at, and I have heard phone calls, they can't respond because someone thought it was a good idea to get rid of them without considering the consequences. Consider yourself in a situation where there was a bih jar of cookies that you weren't supposed to touch, but there were so many cookies that no one would know if you took just one. Wouldn't you be tempted to take a cookie from the jar if no one was around? Now suppose that not knowing that the jar of cookies was for a party,, you snuck in and took one without remembering to wash your hands, and as a result, everyone at the party fell ill from eating the cookies that you contaminated. Thats kinda whats happening here,, but on a grander scale.. You might argue that you wouldn't do such a thing because it isn't in your nature, but not everyone thinks that way. Believe me i know wlwhat it was like as a kid and the need to take things out of impulse and without a second thought. Some people never grow out of that, and some do it out of necessity. Ironcross is right, training costs money. Also you can't take something away and leave nothing in its place, because that creates a power vacume. You can retry to replace the law enforcers with social workers trying 5o get people off the streets, but they're not equipped to handle crime.

I do love the freedom that comes from moving stuff on an android. I remember bagk on ios I had to do a search for an accessible file transfer program, find another one for my pc, link them both to the same network, make sure everything was going into a folder I could find, transfer everything over and hope that the connection doesn't time out. On my current phone, I just plug it into my pc and drag and drop stuff both ways with no restrictions. As often as ivtransfer data around, android is just tons more convenient for me.

Both my parents are from different parts of asia, so I kinda grew up in a home with Eastern values, and even lived there for 3 periods of 2 to 4 months each, so I'd like to think that I'm pretty cultured in this regards. However I admit that there's always room to grow, and I will confess to having a preference towards how things are here in the west. They did always tell me that I have been americanized. I will say though, that US citizens celebrating independance day while in England is not unlike Taiwan wanting to celebrate Taiwan day, but if if the Chinese government doesn't like it because it doesn't sit well with their culture, then it is what it is I guess. I just don't agree with it, vut I gotta give lots and lots of love to the Englanders who are able to bury the hatchet and celebrate with us, and I can only hope that more nations who are at odds with one another can follow the example.

I mean over here the Mexicans selebrate Cinco de mayo, the Indians selebrate their gift giving holiday in November, we selebrate the lunar new year, the jews celebrate the passover, the Christians celebrate resurrection day,, eben the Brits living here and abroad celebrate independence day with us. Diversity is something that should be treasured, not suppressed, because without diversity we might as well be mindless robots, and diversity also helps us establish our own identities and gives others an opportunity to learn about our culture.

Re: your opinion on china

Couple things:Contrabercial things are done by every country. Disney is in all kinds of trouble, and a part of it is because they took the time to thank the chinese government for letting them philm in the northwest region. Thats problematic because that region is where you can still find consentration camps today, just like the US government did to the japanese back during world war II. So they ordered their media not to cover disney's movie that they shot there. I mention this because i think its important to be specific when you call something like this out, otherwise you cast a bad light on some people who may be entirely innocent. Saying things like china did this, or america did that is way over generalizing in my opinion. Bet some of you guys  didn't know that people living in latin america find it offensive if someone from the united states tells them that they are from america, because guess whatz? People living in south america are also from america. Thats why i always take the time to point out the states specifically when refering to america,.

Re: Why isn't talkback improved, or as good as voiceover

Yeah, its really not as simple as that. I'm not using tb right now because typing is a pain with it, but samsung's voice assistance woeks great. However i think samsung's tts is not as great and it has crashed on me once this year, so i use google's tts, which is crisp, clear and reliable.I think the ptoblem with global acccessibulity is that one OS update has the potential to break everything, and there is no third party solution to use as a workaround. For example, iOS 14 came out and then i saw a bunch of whining from kids on dice world on how it vroke the game for them. When the recent release of android made typing clunky with talkback, i switched to voice assistant. Had to learn a new system, but the problem was solved, and i still switch between the 2 depending on my needs. Unfortunately, you cannot get that kind of experience from a 15 minute hands on session, so i hope you find this perspective helpful.

Remember that buying and bribing for votes is illegal, as is sending in pics of your balids, as evidenced by this video and could result in felany charges and some jail time.Additionally, the upcoming vote is not just about electing a new president, there are other positions of office to determine, as well as laws and propositions for the voters within each state to decide on, which will determine how they move forward. I will say that california doesn't seem to be in a particularly good position right now, and i would recommend voters to be mindful of the issues of their state, because this isn't just about who is going to hold office for the next 4 years. I'm saying this for the benefit of those who have not voted before as well, to illustrate how much thought and care needs to be put into each answer. We're not just giving our input on 1 or 2, or a few things, so we need to vote responsibly and with careful consideration..

Re: a question for guitar players

If you look on the back of your guitar, you should find a square panel with screws on it, should have some holes in it as well. Thats where you feed the strings through to the side thats facing away from you when you play. Usually I just unscrew the panel and feed the strings directly into the holes on the back. If this is your first time restringimg a guitar, you can tell which strings are which through the thickness of the strings. Pay attention to which string feeds into which nub at the end of the neck that is not connected to the body, because that is how you will feed the poimty end of the jew string. I recommend doing them 1 at a time to avoid confusion, and turn the nob in the same direction as all the other nobs to tighten it after you have fed the string in on both the body and neck. You will have some string left over but you can cut off the extra after you're done tuning. If any further questions, feel free to ask. Also note that restringing an electric and acoustic are different, and even restrimging a classical is different.

not that I'm for calling this the china virus or anything, I already made my position against it clear, but I heard someone say early on that corona beer stocks fell sharply at the start of the pandemic. Still a poor excuse for not calling it coronavirus if you ask me.

Have to side with Jayde on this one, and assault has the right of it too. Here in USA, we have a meltimg pot of peoples and nationalities, so when you call it the China virus, people who hear it, the next time they see an asian will wonder if they just happen to be from China and become defensive, and trust me there are a lot of asians around here.On a related note, china definitely got problems, but so does everywhere else. We shouldn't be trying to pick the speck out of others eyes without taking care of the plank in our own first. Finally, as an American, I think its ok to be pro America, even in light of the stupid stuff she's done, because America is my home, just as my parents are my parents, and as surely as bad things have come from both, there has been some good as well.

Re: Discussion of the 2020 American Federal Election

@114, If the current president is unable to serve, then the vice president shall serve in his place. If the vice president is unable to serve, then the speaker of the house will serve in his place. That is whats technically supposed to happen, but of course with it being so close to election, everything is up in the air.

Re: A proper discussion on critical race theory

@5 thanks. I said most of what I said in the other topic. Just wanted to see if more light could be shed on the issue and if the discussion could be taken further than it could have gone in the other thread without derailing it entirely.I think 6 introduces an 8nteresting element into the discussion, since as a blind persiob, I am completely oblivious to skin color, so I always thought it weird when I heard someone saying something racist as a kid, because i didn't think people were any different.

Re: A proper discussion on critical race theory

Ok, so can you address the specific points  that are being listed as banned in the video, and why you object to them being banned? I think you kinda did it broadly, and I get the sense that the person behind the video is not against racial awareness training, just not the brand offered by crt. However, i just don't see the problem for instance, in stopping people from teaching others that a specific race or sex  is superior to everyone else, or that white people are racist by default and that men are sexist by default.

A proper discussion on critical race theory

Hi guys!I didnt want to drag up the whole sad to read thread for this discussion because I  felt that it was convoluted and unfocused when this discussion came about, so I figured I'd start fresh. This video addresses specifically what is being targeted with the government bann on the teaching of critical race theory.I'm going to go ahead and say that I can't find anything listed objectionable, but I'm still trying to understand in light of this information why crytical race theory is ok. If this is something you want to discuss, watch this video through to the end, find me some evidence on the other side, and let's talk. Note: I'm not trying to stir up drama by talking about the current president of the states, i'm just trying to better  understand the validity of critical race theory. Lets keep it civil. Sound off in the comments below.

Re: what do you guys regret

I regret going to a stupid rock concert in Nam without earplugs. As cool as it was, I have to pay for it for the rest of my life. If I could redo that day I would not go, but there are no redos in life, so let my story be a cautionary tale for the rest of you kids. As far as regrets go, this is my only one..

Re: Netflicks issues

I think that just means that whatever you were looking for specifically is unavailable. This also happens when I do searches on my phone. The other day I did a search for the karate kid and got exactly as you described, but last year i could find it easy, so if what you want is there, it should be among the first items.

I really hate yuki Terimy. You beat him to a pulp and he still finds a reason to  laughs at you. Just one of the reasons why I find blazblue so appealing, in addition to all the moving pieces in the story. Its pretty deep for a fighting game.

Re: Any anime fans out there?

Yeah, I love the story behind blazblue also. Sometimes it feels like the guys are just yelling pointless crap at each other like in dragon ball, but if you can look past that then the story is amazing.I agree about tekken 6 on the psp. The problem is that the intros aren't narrated, and all of the long story cutscenes from cenario were left out when porting the game to psp. Thats why i prefer tekken 5.I really liked to read mothers Rosario on bakatsuki long before it was adapted into anime. It was really nice to finally know for once everything that was happening when the characters weren't talking. Back then, I was really obsessed with the world of sword art online,.

Re: Any anime fans out there?

hope you enjoy it.The last thing I read there was a light novel from the blazblue series. I think its very cool that they always include the authors notes at the end. Usually, they are translating from the source, so the english may be a little rough. If a part isn't up yet, just give it time.
