Re: a question for midi enthusiasts who have a Braille Note MPower Hi,For the past week, I have been working on my own soundfont of wince_gm non stop. I am happy to say that Beta 1 of this font is out.http://grossgang.com/utilities/wince_gm.sf2A fiew things to note:I didn't Integrate LFOs or volume attenuation, so It won't sound exactly like the original. The decoded samples don't have any Annoying artifacts for the most part, so this soundfont actually sounds much better than the original. Some of the loop points were causing notes to become out of tune so the problematic points had to be shortened by 1 sample. If something sounds out of tune, please let me know so I can fix any more problematic loop points. Re: a question for midi enthusiasts who have a Braille Note MPower
Re: a question for midi enthusiasts who have a Braille Note MPower Update:@musicalman has been reading up on the DLS specks, and he figured out how to convert the DLS parameters into soundfont parameters. He also readded the loop points to the samples, and if needed, fixed some of the loops.Armed with the raw samples with loops and a text file describing how to play each instrument, he started creating a soundfont with sf2comp, and so far things are sounding great! At the time of this post, he has done the first 17 instruments. For the best results, we compare them to reference recordings of the original synth and make any necessary changes to get a close match. We estimated if we work on this every day, we might have a public Beta in a little over a week. Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts
Re: Questions about midi, synthesizers, and soundfonts I decoded the samples with goldwave. Interestingly, in the drum samples, the pre-ringing and screeches are gawn. I think this is because goldwave is using a newer WMA decoder. Yes, the format of the samples is Windows Media Audio version 1.As for the samples playing back at the wrong sample rate, that is a simple fix. Just change the playback rate.As for the long-awaited samples, they can be found in their uncompressed PCM form at:http://grossgang.com/wince_gm_decoded_samples.zipNow its time to create a soundfont. practical way to create soundfonts Hi,Recently, I extracted the samples from wince_gm.dls, and I would like to make it into a soundfont.I could use sf2comp, but that wouldn't be practical because I would like to hear my changes in realtime. Is their an accessible program that allows me to develop soundfonts and hear my changes in realtime by playing a MIDI keybord? Thanks. Lossless audio books
Lossless audio books Hi,I have been listening to audio books from Audible and CDS that I have ripped to FLAC, and in many cases I noticed that books on CD sound much clearer than on Audible. This is especially true if their are sound effects and music in the production.I am wondering, has anyone ever thought of starting a sight that sells lossless audio books in a format such as FLAC? We have sights with lossless music, but not lossless audio books.I know not everyone can play CDS, so I feel that a lot of people are missing out on higher quality versions of audio books.I would like to know what you think about this. why rare stuff disappears from the internet
why rare stuff disappears from the internet Hi,TLDR, I tend to collect things before they disappear from their original source, and this makes me appreciate my own work much more.I have been thinking about how far I'v come in collecting TTS voices and such things, and I tried to find my original sources even though I didn't really need to.I first went to ftp.scansoft.com where I got the LH evaluators, but that sight is no more.I then went to Dolphin's sight and tried searching for the files I used to put together my orpheus.iso file, but it seems those files have disappeared.I then tried to find some of my sources I used to put together my Willow Pond audio software iso, but those sights are very hard to find or they disappeared altogether. It seems my sight is the only sight that still hosts the SAPI4 SDK, so nv access got it from my sight. If I wasn't hosting that, sapi4 may have been broken in NVDA 2019.3 and later.I am not complaining about all of this since I already have the stuff that I want, but if I didn't get this stuff when it was still online, I would of had no luck.No-one else would even think of collecting such rare stuff, so I am happy I am doing the things that no-one else bothers to do.Also, some people are referencing some of my installers. For example, the Microsoft Sam and his fellow TTS voices wiki states that you have to get LH Michael and Michelle sapi5 from my sight. I am happy many people recognize my work.I am curious if anyone else on hear has examples of rarities they found before the sight disappeared.
