Thanks Dentin. I wanted to see something about GMud and NVDA especially since Achaea makes nice use of it, but maybe I wont need to.

Re: GMUD and NVDA: y u no talk 2 each other

You shouldnt be trying to use unicode characters on a mud - muds are 7 bit ascii, and while a handful of extended characters might possibly be allowed through the socket stack, its unlikely anyone else can see them properly.Definitely try to stick with MushClient - GMud is worse in literally every way, and if you cant get MushClient to do what you want, its because you just havent figured out how yet. Its extremely configurable.Alter Aeon MUDhttp://www.alteraeon.com

Re: GMUD and NVDA: y u no talk 2 each other

I like MUSHClient, but for one thing, it absolutely refuses to accept any extended or unicode characters, replacing them with a question mark in the output. Also, Im having a baffling issue that I want to test other clients to see if its MC, or my net. I simply cannot idle on any muds, even ones I know that allow it, such as fluxworld and lambda moo. Ill end up being dropped, but it doesnt appear to be on the server, as MCs standard, server dropped the connection message never appears, simply, when I come back, The mud is unresponsive, and i need to disconnect and reconnect. This bugs me quite a bit, some muds have implementations that will keep you idle, and i can do it with a timer, but thats just ridiculous that i need to go to that length.

Currently, for the status of reality mud, its not as I lost the source. I have intentions to bring it back at somepoint, when I can get my modovation up enough to actually play a mud again.

Re: GMUD and NVDA: y u no talk 2 each other

I have that problem with my net too so its not just the client. The only way to truely fix it is to have some way of keeping the connection alive. Most muds do this by sending a string to the client, like a keepalive message or something. You could probably do this with mush client though im not sure how.

GMUD and NVDA: y u no talk 2 each other

I dont know whats wrong with me, and I promise, I havent been dropping acid. However, I want to get off MUSHClient, to try a more powerful mud client but NVDA is not working with a lot of these clients. The one I want to use is GMUD32, and its just not reading out incomming. lines. I can review, but... yeah, that aint good enough. Can anyone give me suggestions on what can be done to get these love birds talking to each other. And If any of our fine developers find themselves bored, I wonder if they might undertake an addon for NVDA? P.S. Please *DO NOT* suggest VipMud, the answer is no, no, no, no no no no no no no no no no no no! naw! heyll naw!

Re: GMUD and NVDA: y u no talk 2 each other

Moderation! Muds = games and mud clients are just there to play muds, so general game discussion is the place for this, so it is being moved. Remember, the offtopic room is intended for anything not! about games. Ill also remind everyone that the Ofttopic room is not the technical none game related questions room. Really, there are lots of other things not related to games people could discuss, and while there is nothing wrong with asking tech questions, Ive done so myself, its definitely a far narrower use than what the room was intended to be for, hence why we have the Monthly chat topics.

Re: GMUD and NVDA: y u no talk 2 each other

Im mildly perplexed by such a comparison/evaluation as well. GMUD32 is in no wise more powerful than MUSHClient. Even if you dont consider the advanced scripting features, MUSHClient has, for the average user, superior trigger and alias management, standard XML for world files, an extensive plugin capability that allows one to expand the functionality of the application, spellchecking, word completion, modern OS compatibility without the necessity for antiquated libraries, and so much more, and thats before we begin to touch upon any advanced features such as an extensive scripting support via LUA, Regular _expression_ matching for precise triggers and aliases, a lot more wildcard options (including %0), Multiple worlds interface (along with interopability between worlds), etc.Perhaps you mean a simpler mud client than MUSHClient? I do understand that MUSHClient can be slightly daunting, since it requires some degree of scripting (though this can be provided
via readily available plugins) before the application will automatically speak. MUSHClient, in fact, puts VIPMud, a paid-for application to shame, given its plethora of advanced options which will probably never see the light of day in VIPMud. Theres Monkey Term, but that also requires some fairly antiquated support libraries, and would still require scripting before automatic speech is available.Ultimately, I cant fathom wanting to switch from MUSHClient, being that its both free and open source. Furthermore, its a project that is still in full development by the author, despite its no longer being monetized.Kai

Re: GMUD and NVDA: y u no talk 2 each other

NVDA doesnt have the option of switching the screen echo, or GMud would work fine. There was a client Danny made called Reality Mud, but soundpacks dont work with it.Im not even sure if its still being worked on.Otherwise, Reality Mud would make a great alternative.
