Re: Game Developers - where to advertise your games?

This seems abit insular. Audio Games are (or should be) a subset of the gaming industry as a whole, so it makes sense to start going through more indie/mainstream channels. Like writing articles or post-mortems on Gamasutra, devlogs on tigsource, indiedb, or itch.io, etc. Attending conferences like IGF, GDC, and PAX. Getting articles up on kotaku, pcgamer, destructoid, or rockpapershotgun. I know two writers from rockpapershotgun have written articles about audio games, the last one not to long ago involving roguelikes.I've also actually seen a number of posts here about mainstream games like the latest telltale games, GTA V, and others that people pick up from these channels or via word of mouth from the sighted people they interact with. Its abit of a gamble, but could help raise the genres visibility and attract people from other market segments as well.

You can always advertise on Reddit.

Re: Game Developers - where to advertise your games?

If you want a mailinglist to advertise on you could try Audyssey, but that being a mailinglist, I wouldn't call that a solid advertising method myself. Nevertheless, you could find interested gamers on there as well and get feedback from them should they prefer to use the mailinglist.

Re: Game Developers - where to advertise your games?

Hi Sonnar. Since the audiogames playing community is rather small there aren't many dedicated websites and lists to advertise online. There is this site, Phil Vlasac's fantastic games and where to find them over at www.pcsgames.net, and for Ios or mac games specifically the applevis  http://www.applevis.com/ I believe Audiogame hub is already listed in all of those places (It certainly has a page here). There are then a couple of sites which,  though they have a little about gaming also reach out to those beyond the gaming community. These include Tom Lorimer's site at http://www.whitestick.co.uk/  which provide useful links to all sorts of things, games included, and 7-128 software, a group of people who develop games but also do a lot in terms of access and promotion h
ttp://www.7128.com/ It is them who do the top 25 websites list each year.I'd suggest contacting both Tom lorrimer and 7-128 and seeing about link sharing and maybe (in the case of 7-128), a little promotion outside the community. You could also look at link sharing with some other developers, I'm thinking particularly here of Marty Shultz of kid friendly software who has been very successful in promoting hisoutside the community, find his site at http://blindfoldgames.org/ Another way to reach people might be to start in with organizations and conventions. Unfortunately in the Uk there is only one developer, Azabat games who are very much aimed at an older, none computer literate audience who has managed to get their games on cd carried by the rnib (this is typical if you know anything about the rnib over here). But there are likely more general organizations visually impared people with
a slightly less narrow focus in terms of games. I did once hear of games being advertised at summer camps for blind people, but since we don't have summer camps over here I'm probably not the person to discuss that with. I will say promotion is a difficult thing, especially because of that age old problem, comparatively few people are blind, and comparatively few blind people are under the age of 70, meaning that those interested in games are something of a minority,  there should be a successful way around to increase awareness of your games. hth.

Re: Game Developers - where to advertise your games?

Hello Sonnar.Well personally I usually come here and look at new releases to find new games. You could put an ad on youtube and just let us know on here. I don't go on any other forums really so I'm not sure where you would advertise. Just remember your developing for a small community. You could also just write on here which most of us look at. Other forums I don't know, you will have to ask some others on here to find that our.Hth.
