Re: Has anyone installed mac on a vm?

Actually, you should choose I will install the guest operating system later, then choose the vmdk file that contains the mac os you downloaded. Unless you actually happen to have an iso. Why are you trying to create a virtual machine, anyway? You shouldn't have to. Just click add a new virtual machine to library, and then click on the vmx file of your vm, hit enter and run it. If it asks if you moved or copied it, say you moved it.

I say wait about 5 minutes. If you don't get the, mac os includes a built in screenreader called voiceover prompt, try hitting windows+f5 anyway and see what happens.

Re: Has anyone installed mac on a vm?

it's a little easier than that. If you're using  Intel cpu, you'll be needing "Intel vt" turned on, which for me was on by default. Use CPU-z to check whether it's on or not.  Then, you need the unlocker. get it from the link belowhttp://www.dl2.apptrackr.ir/user1/94/un … pps.ir.zipit's version 207 and i used it with VMware Workstation 11.1.2, not sure if it'll work with other versions.needless to say, it's a little slow but not frustrating, and i Loved the experiencetell me if that link wasn't working, and if you need help with the rest

Re: Has anyone installed mac on a vm?

Well, I'd consider a MAC but I don't really know how much useful would it be for me, since, for example, I don't know how well does Voiceover work with Microsoft word or excel, or ABBYY fine reader, or PDF viewers.Windows is getting crazier and crazier, and I don't really know how long will it take for the abolishment of Windows 10 and start with a new project which will be different in many respects. Windows 7 for me remains the ancestor of Windows XP, and Microsoft will have a hard time persuading customers to do away with it. Windows 10's update policy, in particular, drives me crazy. If I take responsibility on the installation and the frequency of the installation of updates, why the heck do you care to force me to do it? The problem, most of the time, is not that these updates are against any rule undeclared by Microsoft, but they do bloody slow down the system and get installed whenever you need your computer at hand. Imagine, for example, tha
t you have to get ready for school. You need to restart the computer and a dialog on the screen pops up, "Please do not turn off your computer".

It's simply not worth the trouble to set up a virtual mac. Getting a Mac opens up a lot of possibilities for you, simply because there is no bios, you can reinstall it all on your own using speech and you never need sighted assistance at all.

You'll get a very bad result if you try to run a virtual Mac. I agree that you should try a Mac computer in a shop instead, or better try someone you know who is an experienced user.

Re: Has anyone installed mac on a vm?

yes, what you need for VMware player is an unlocker which allows it to run the OSX. The only place I know to get it is insanely mac forums, and I forgot my registration crap so I can't get it again, and I'm not making another account because the process was annoying as hell.

Re: Has anyone installed mac on a vm?

You shouldn't have to be to concerned about fullscreen mode unless you have some vision. What you need to pay attention to is the software that needs to be installed in order to *attempt* to make your system run mac on a vm not only by unlocking vmware's ability to run mac vm's under windows, but also your system's ability to if it's not powered by an intel core cpu. Check your processor in your system information. I say, if it's not intel, just don't even try. Before I got a physical mac which I absolutely would recommend over a vm any day, I was trying to get my dell inspiren1545 with a pentium cpu to run a mac vm in order to try it out, but there was no much shit you had to install, loopholes to find, etc that it just wasn't worth it. Even if you have an intel cpu, unless you have a very high amount of ram 8gb at the very least, you may be disappointed at the voiceover responsiveness. Basically, you'll be lucky if you get under a hal
f second of keyboard delay. That's nowhere near a real mac, even one with 2gb of ram which I have experienced before. On top of that, even if you do have awesome responsiveness, you should be advised that you won't be running a licensed copy of osx. Expect no apple id related features, software suites like iwork, garageband, facetime, etc. Expect none of that. You'll be lucky if you can even enter your apple id during setup in the first place. But wait, I thought mac updates were free? That's the misconception. They technically are, now they are at least, they never used to be. They're free because your system's hardware information basically serves as the license key for osx. The mac is technically another pc thanks to intel, a high powered one at that, but it's a serialized device. Your system's serial number and hardware specs are your license information for mac. So unless you're fine with trying mac with a limited experience, I say i
t's more worth it to actually go to the apple store and try a mac. You'll be much more satisfied that way.
