Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
Oh? I'll have to see about that, how I can do that properly. When I made it network specific at one point, then moved over to my school network one day, I had no working internet. I then went to cmd and typed ipconfig
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
@22, no, you can do that on a per-network basis I believe. Just set it in network settings and you'll be good to go.

Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
I did disable UPNP. And I set up a static IP on the PC also, the router doesn't support reserving IP addresses to certain devices apparently so yeah. Annoying thing about that is, because setting up a static IP involves
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
That's awesome! I figured it had to be Windows Firewall blocking things. I recommend disabling UPNP if your device supports it. You can manually configure your ports, and it will make you more secure because random
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
I finally got port forwarding to work, turns out the windows firewall was behind not allowing connections through those ports. All I had to do was open the ports on windows firewall, make sure the ports are forwarded
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
The tracert command should give you IP addresses with each hop. If you see more than one private IP address, it probably means you're experiencing at least double NAT.The other issue might be Windows Firewall. Make sure
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
It's officially just been confirmed that port forwards are indeed working, it must be me who's at fault here. I have BT sync running on this machine and for some reason it puts UPNP entries in my router if UPNP is enabled
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
From what I understand, DMZ puts whatever device you allow outside of the firewall, so that it's open to the Internet. If you have double NAT, you will need to forward the ports in your router and then put your router
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
What's this about setting DMZ to a device that directly faces the internet? Isn't the router that particular device? When I tried the DMZ thing some times I put my computer's internal IP in there, then again I am not fully
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
Try opening a command line and typing tracert 8.8.8.8 followed by enter. This will tell you all the places the packets have to go through to make it from your computer to the destination, which is Google's DNS server
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
I currently have TCP and UDP ports 10333 open on my router forwarded to my machine's IP, which at the time is 192.168.100.17, and even port checking sites like canyouseeme.org are saying they can't see my service

Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
@12, yes I am pretty sure I am putting the computer's IP in the correct field, which at that time happened to be 192.168.100.17. When I had a static IP, even that didn't work for god knows what reason, and the public IP
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
@11, primarily it boils down to two dangers:1. There is no authentication. If your router gets a UPNP packet, it will do what it asks, no questions asked.2. UPNP usually has a large amount of power over your router
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
also @6, what's wrong with using UPNP?

Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
I'm also looking for a working version of port forwarder, because this router configuration interface is making me mad. There's no specific heading called port forwarding, just virtual server under security settings
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
If you're using a cellular connection, there's no way that I know of to open ports. This is because of Carrier-Grade NAT. You may be able to contact the carrier, but they may not open ports since as far as I know
Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
Any router will allow you to accomplish the same thing - and the web UI should be accessible.

Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
I'd advise against using UPNP. Just open the ports.

Re: Is there an accessible and free port opening software available?
It's called Port Forwarder. However, I believe it relies on UPNP being enabled on your router. If it is not enabled or does not exist, it won't do you any good. You might as well manually open the ports.

I think it's just called port forwarder.

Mason made a thing a while back, but I don't have the link to it. I just open them in my router.
