I was told it was fixed but I just logged in today and, even during character creation, it was lagging about a second to two between menu screens. Lots of active and friendly players, plus the admins are really willing to put in accessibility features which are suggested. The combat system is detailed and as said before, is one of the most unique systems I've seen. Some bits take getting used to but it's really worth it, in my opinion. I will try the other MUDs recommended here and find one that best meets my criteria. Tempest Season looks promissing on that account.I'm already a person who has a hard time making a choice among many, and the fact that there are many MUDs out there that I can play tempts me to open an Excel sheet and compare all of them based on their pros and cons, a hole which I cannot get out of once I enter. But I have heard bad things about its creators, and you do have to either pay, or be sponsored in order to play after a certain time. I loved the crafting, and it was some of the most in-depth I've seen, but the farming was group-oriented. Too bad, because it had awesome potential.Accursed Lands might fit your bill. In this world, magic is taboo, but that just means you have to hide your use of it, and anything rlated to magic is sort of a black market. I don't know for a fact that you can create magical items, but I think you can. The crafting here is almost as good as Avalon. If they'll just add farming, it will be as good or better.As for the player base, it seems to be growing slowly, and the economy is player driven. In other words, what you craft, you can sell.There was PVP, but with so few players now, it's not really a thing at the moment. Re: Looking for MUDs with a rich lore, magic related crafting and PVP I keep trying avalon, since there are so many systems that look good and the writing is some of the best I've seen, but I don't like the fact that so much of the game is player driven. At one point I was just having other players tell me to practice this and practice that about 100 times and nothing actually like a quest or goal to do. I do gather a lot has changed, but the start was very confusing, it's a game I've always meant to put time into. Clok is very nicely done, though there the ooc/IC distinction can get complex, still I love the wilderness and activities.A tempest season other players seem okay, though myself as more a solo question type I've been concentrating on the quests, still there is a lot of lore and rp events too, and one of the most unique combat systems I've seen for a while as well as classes that truly play differently. I'd highly suggest giving it a go. Looking for MUDs with a rich lore, magic related crafting and PVP Hello,Ten years ago or so I used to play MUDs and I remember I was enjoying it so much. Since I have some free time, I am thinking about going back to mudding to see if I’ll get the same enjoyment.I'm looking for a MUD with a rich lore and decent player base that is combat (PVP) focused and has a deep crafting and magic system. By saying crafting what I want is to be able to create magical items like scrolls, wands, rods, and staves that can compete with the items dropped by npcs and have an impact in the game. I don't mind spending time and effort to reach this level. I would prefer no enforced RP, though I wouldn't mind it being there as an option because there are times when I want to be creative.As for the player base, I want to have the choice to interact with other players. The main reason why I quickly get bored and stop playing MUDs is lack of player interaction and like-minded friends be it IC or OOC. Even a simple player-based economy would go a long way in reminding me that I don’t play alone.So far from what I gathered by reading the posts in this forum and Reddit here is the list of MUDs I'm considering trying:Avalon RPGDiscworldGeasClokMateria MagicaBatmudLensmoorEnd of Time MudArmageddonAccursed LandsDark and Shattered LandsAncient AnguishI know some of the above MUDs have dwindling populations or are plagued by issues related to admins and such so that’s why I need your opinion.
