This has nothing to do with anyone losing money as far as I can tell, we're just bringing up the past again.Still, Mason, and other devs who sell stuff too, really should be making terms of service and packaging them with their games, so that if a server goes down or something they can point to the section where they said that might happen at any time, and then legally (if not socially) they are covered.That said, I'm pretty sure that paypal and other payment services have rules about that kind of thing, where you can get a refund if access to the service suddenly stopped, but it depends. I will share the knowledge around that it's a good game and that other people should give it a shot. If you have good customer support with your game, I will do all I can to get that information out as well because we need more games like that. Where I start to get annoyed though, is when shoddy business practices enter the fray. I get annoyed because a lot of us have to budget, and as much as I, or someone else can come along and claim their situation isn't great, someone else will come along and say theirs is worse, and probably be correct. However, even if budgeting wasn't an issue, it is still wise, and good to treat your customers fairly, and with respect, rather than taking them for granted as just a source of money coming into your coffers.I am not here to say whether someone should or should not charge for their game, or for a subset of their game. I have my opinions on some things, but that is not what I'm about right here. I'm about the fair treatment of paying customers, and how this one particular developer at this given time does not seem to take that seriously. If I'm not mistaken, nowhere in the purchase and agreement process of Mason's games does it say that the developer reserves the right to lift and replace the pay wall at any time they so choose, and or discontinue the software without any notice and completely halt communications - with no refund to the paying customer. I'm sure that if that was included in the terms of service, this wouldn't be an issue, but when people are informed that their money will be spent on something that will give them their money's worth and that they won't be gypped, that is what they expect. It would be like going and purchasing one of those self driving cars, being told that it is reliable and that you should have no problem using it for its intended purpose, only to hop in for a 3 day family road trip and find that it's inoperable because the software was completely discontinued without notice. So you have to take it back - and you will not be refunded, so tough luck.Is a car different from a game? Hell yes. The principle of those examples is not though. $15 and $15000 both have one thing in common: they are both more expensive than $0. Money is money. I think at this point people won't purchase a game from you quickly, due to it maybe going down unexpectedly in the future. ON the other hand, if you first develop something which is free, and perhaps at a later stage release updates for a price (like warsim), it'd work. This won't work obviously for multiplayer games, nor simple games. But that way you won't "take away" something that was free before and you'll very gently nudge players towards supporting you financially. But if you simply want out, there's nothing wrong with that. Just make a choice, and stick with it. Following Mason topic deletion episode 45000, I've removed them. I'm not going to demonstrate games which may or may not be paid and may or may not be discontinued, because their developer decided to up and delete his connection to the main source of communication and information for his players.I was on vacation last week so didn't know all the topics were deleted. I in fact checked Mason's profile to verify and find out they were. I have a version of endless runner from May 19, and I don't have shooter yet.I'm not going to bother hunting either of them down or trying to find out what's new, what has changed, what payment model has been implemented, because I quite frankly don't care enough to go the extra mile and look. I'm a player of audio games, and I will play and or pay for games of game creators who do not sever their main line of pr because they don't like what someone said to them. IF they didn't, he'd have no one to code for, no one to feed off of. This isn't about mental health. Think about what happens every time he does this. First, people get sad, mad, curious, whatever. Second, the gap between factions grows. You have the Mason supporters who defend him no matter what he does, and those who see what he's really doing ,and that gap grows, and they start fighting each other. Third, combine the fighting factions with his friends and people who never want to leave him, and then the people who grow desperate for new games, who then join his faction. Take all that, and what do you have? You have an abundance of emotion, strong emotion. It doesn't matter how much of it is positive or negative, just that it exists. He then feeds off that emotion. He's an emotional vampire, he literally feeds off of the emotions and attention provided by others. Any one of us who provide him that have fallen prey to it. So have I, but I'm not doing it anymore. This post is just to try to enlighten you all on what is going on here. He wants to be loved, he wants to be attacked, he wants to be respected, and even a part of him wants to be hated, because even hate is an emotion he can feed off of, and hate is also attention directed at him, again, something he can feed off of. Even making this post, in which I am calm will generate some attention that he craves and some emotion that he feeds from. The replies to this topic do the ssame, whether you agree with me or disagree with me, or post something entirely different, it all ends up doing the same thing, giving him that which he desperately desires beyond all else. The only way to stop this is for people to stop going to his games, stop paying for them, stop playing them, stop downloading them, and literally cutting him out of your lives. We can't teach him that what he does is not a good way to live, we need to boycott him.Also, I am well aware of how ridiculous this post sounds, but it is the only thing that fits. While we as a community continue to feed him, he will continue these behaviors. Frankly, I don't see anything changing, because I don't see people stopping with supporting him and playing his games and it would have to be a community effort. It would have to be something we would be unified in the doing of. Just know this, while you continue to play his games, use his services, or interact with him in any way; you are under his mercy. He will feed off the emotion and attention you provide him, then turn around and do things you don't like, but you don't have the right to complain. You forfeited that right when you made the conscious decision to continue supporting him.I don't have any malice toward him anymore. I finally realized what he's about, and it isn't necessarily his fault that he learned an inappropriate way to get what he craves. In a way, I feel sorry for him, because he's stuck in a loop in which he will go through these phases, presumably forever, unless something breaks the cycle. But even more, I pity those who continue to fall prey to his impulsive behaviors. However, it takes ages to load and when I try pressing the arrow keys it crashes with the errors i posted here. I restarted my PC after the firewall entry just to make sure. Am I missing something? It's quite a bit of fun, but I've encountered some problems:The first time I launched the game it did not seem to run at all, so I pressed on game.exe once again, with no luck whatsoever. Looking into the task manager revealed that the game was open twice in the background. I closed them and tried again and waited. Eventually it opened. It's also weird that in the game menu it showed a total playing count of over 7000, that's a bit much for running it the first time don't you think? This would happen every time in a similar manner. Sometimes I would be lucky and the game would run quickly the first time. Today it worked fine at first, then when I pressed escape to pause it and return to the main menu, it would suddenly stop working. Anyway, I hadn't noticed that about the gun ammo not spawning, but that's definitely happening here too. I don't mind all that much since I never use it, especially now that I have the machine gun, but it would probably be worth looking into.
