The next game in the series will not tie you so tightly to the town and be more about the setting, and how Tom ended up in Wanton Cove in the first place. I recently started a game called Last Stand of Ra that's intended to be a somewhat small game, odds are pretty good that once that is complete, I'll be looking at doing another game within the Cthulhu mythos. There is an altar there. I'm starting to have a suspicion, that they are not.The part of the description reads:A looming darkness at the back of the cavern appears to be where the cave system continues.Finally, my flashlight falls on the raised area in the middle of the room. The stone is round, and flat on the top, perhaps eight feet across at any point. I can see wax and half burnt candles placed all around the dark crimson center. Even a cursory inspection reveals that some of the candles look old while others look almost new. This place has been used recently. And the dark red at the center of the stone ranges from a rich red color all the way to the brownish red of old dried blood. Taking my time, I walk through the cavern, looking in nooks and crannies in the hopes of finding something useful. With the exception of bits and pieces of old bone, I see little else of interest. Follow the cave out to the Bluff.Exit the cave.Or are there any abilities I need to be aware of. My perception is 13.end spoiler. I would say this fits into the latter category. The writing in general, the setting, and the atmosphere of the game are excellent. It feels very Lovecraftian. Seriously, this game is creepy from the get go, and the tension that it creates really works. The random scenes generally help keep the tension high, and atmosphere thick. The character work could be a bit better. To be clear, some characters get a lot of love, but others feel like little more a click through dialouge to gather clues. It's that contrast that makes me even write this criticism. On to the TF. There seems to be one central TF in the game, and it is painfully slow... in a very good way. You could railroad your way through it if you really want to, but I get the feeling that once there is a path to a more satisfactory ending it is the kind of thing that will happen over time, and you will struggle against it if you want to enjoy the content. This seems fitting, as characters tend to lose their minds in Lovecraftian fiction, while here we have our main character losing their body and mind. The other was the way I coded the Fountain scene, which was only allowing it to play out under a pretty specific set of circumstances. Some people have an aversion to it, some people are perverts who enjoy a steady diet of it (I probably fall into that second group) and most well adjusted people enjoy it in moderation. Places where the people are friendly and hold meaningful conversations, it tends to self regulate. In other places you see a bunch of people acting like juveniles, and in those cases it is something a necessary evil. Its about the maturity of the people involved. Dark and reading .What is amusing with this forum filters wise is that at the beginning there were quite a few filters on language. it ended up starting to change when we had a discussion about the old desert strike series and it was a bit odd talking about bellfire missiles . When I started as admin I removed all of the swear words from the filters, though left some of the anti spam ones, though i've occasionally had to remove those if they come up in conversation too. On this forum generally the idea is that it's the intend that matters not the language. So calling someone a stupid idiot with intent to be insulting will get you in trouble with the mods, while saying that your fucking computer is on the blink again will not . I actually have five stories I've started over there (Inheritance is one of them, so that's an easier format if you're just looking to enjoy the intro outside of the game format) and I've contributed to about that many more stories as well. chooseyourstory.com & choiceofgames. I tend to only write erotica, and I actively avoid contributing to places that are not specifically "adult" sites unless I have been given permission to do so or been invited in some way on the grounds that I prefer to avoid offending people when possible (For example, I'd have never thought to post on this site if someone hadn't posted on my behalf, taking that as invitation, I've been hanging out ever sense. In the case of your site, I'm not seeing any specifically "adult" content, so I'd be cautious about posting there. In my experience sites are either welcoming of such content, of they react VERY badly to its presence. Re: The Allure of Wanton Cove Hmmm, I will say my experience of user created cyoa style stuff is not good, mainly it was with sites like chooseyourstory.com, where as you said you either go off the top ten list or get lost in a lot of very adolescent, half finished rambles. usually what I look to for that sort of thing these days are sites with a deal more control, eg the fighting fantasy project, chronicles of arborell, or choiceofgames. Indeed you might consider writing for choiceofgames yourself, it'd be a h good way to reach several platforms.As to relationships, ours is sort of one of the unbelievable ones, especially because it continues that way. If I went through all the history it really would! sound like a bad romance novel, but the fact that it worked out where it is is is simply astounding. I don't think inheritance would be where I'd want to start writing myself, I'd prefer to look at my own projects, though I have considered submitting creatures for either Flexible survival single or multiplayer if I can get my head around the programming syntax used. In terms of CoC, there is apparently a mod that has a huge amount of extra content continually created called CoC revamp, however that has an even worse interface for screen readers than Trials in tainted space, at least in Trials in tainted space some of the buttons controlling in game choices are labeled in a screen reader friendly way, while in the CoC revamp mod none of them are. it's a shame really, especially considering how accessible the original CoC is, but there you go. Hopefully my enquiries on the fenoxo forum will go somewhere. It felt like he lost heart at the end of CoC and rushed things, it felt to me like it lacked the depth of much of the other content. TiTS is a lot of fun, but to me it never really had the same depth to it that CoC did (I never minded the interface though)I've tried sending messages to people involved with CoC and its mods, but questions, comments, and even offers to contribute were never responded to. She hasn't got heavily into detailed rpgs etc yet, though has tried some audio arcade games and the like, and she absolutely loved live tabletop rp when we managed to do it. I actually write myself, though at the moment I am still! trying to finish a doctoral thesis in philosophy (despite being slapped with multiple extentions), and hope to get more original work done when i've finished that, though even the bits of writing I do for this site ad other places can get fairly intensive. I always had the impression that Alex Comfort was sort of the authority on these sorts of things discussed in a fairly calm and adult h (he even has a page on wikipedia0, and I did find the fact he's both very honest, and perfec tly straight forward quite helpful, indeed the way he describes sexual therapists dealing with people with intensive genophobia was pretty much how my lady dealt with me instinctively.Btw, as regards coC I've not played much of the game so far since basically I was doing an access check, though did like the world and writing as well as the combat mechanics. I was also trying to compare the CoC interface to that in trials in tainted space t see what is wrong with the latter and what to discuss with the developers, though whether any changes will be made access wise to label the buttons i am not sure (sadly with the CoC remake Mod I've had no response whatsoever, which usually means a no go in terms of accessibility). one game I'm not certain of at the moment is fall of eden which is on Fenoxo's site, since on the one hand it seems absolutely impossible to click on anything with a screen reader, on the other the hotkeys for the various shortcuts work fine, the problem I have is determining which hotkey corresponds to which thing.Have you played fall of Eden? can you say anything about the interface/ it seems a similar sort of thing to CoC though with a slightly slightly different setting. I will say with adult games generally sice it's been an area of games I've not bee able to play, part of the reason I'm dealing with a lot of these now is simply that of experience, since hay, I like games! My wife and me read some similar work, but for the most part we do our own thing (She likes books about special needs people, true crime, and drama. I prefer Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, and Adventure. Most of our overlap is between drama, Sci-Fi, and Horror.) Where I'm lucky though is that she likes playing hack & slash games with me (Spent a lot of hours playing Buldar's Gate, all of the Gauntlet games, and similar) as well as a small number of other games. I myself like fantasy sf and the odd horror, and while Mrs. Dark's tastes overlap mine to a large extent I tend to like darker things than she does (we have quite some debates about the merrits of George R R Martin), she also tends to read more crime and psychological fictio tha I do. so often what we read together is suggested by one or other of us, though sometimes it's something new to both of us. The single player is an ever expanding rpg with fascinating story and combat and very weird monsters, the multiplayer a great and detailed browser game and mud. I look that one up every few months to see what is new, . . . probably over due for another play.I've always been impressed of the adult game community, especially among game communities that focus on more text heavy games. Most of the people I've had the privilege of meeting have been kind, intelligent, and helpful.Inheritance. The game has a dark undertone at the start and involves a pair of girls who have been mistreated in the past. While there are options to allow you to take advantage of them, the primary focus of the writing is to provoke a nurturing and protective impulse in the player. The idea is to take a pair of girls what are 'broken' in their own ways, then put the player in a position where they want to make their lives brighter.I've seen some really amazing discussion about the game and how people view the characters. For example, here is part of a conversation on another site about the intro from a while back:"Hm...I am conflicted (I know it's only a very very very early version of this game, still)...the writer is good at making me question what the best path is (especially since there's no outcome yet, because that choice ends this version of the game!)...I mean of the two choices here (I will never be a total abusive asshole, not even in a game so for me there's only two choices here, not 3 (abusing her is out of the question!)...no, I can't even roleplay that! I can roleplay a greedy person, a person driven by revenge, hell even someone who's a racist should I really need to etc. etc. but not someone who's just an evil asshole!):- stop Anna from having sex with you (either by saying you aren't even remotely intersted in her, which would in my case be a lie, not to mention totally uncalled for! While I have read and enjoyed Wheel of time, mrs. dark is a major! wheel of time nut, indeed i bought her an Ais sidai replica ring and Green aja pendent in sterling silver for Christmas, as well as some Ashaman dragon cufflinks for me. We're actually reading through Brandon Sanderson's stormlight archive at the moment together which is remarkably similar to wheel of time even down to the audio version being narrated by Michael cramer (someone my lady is a huge fan of). Anyway getting back to games, interesting you mention post apocalyptick, since what started me in on the idea that adult games could have a lot of interest in and of themselves as games aside from the adult material was Flexible survival, which was a game I've been wanting to play, tried several times before I got married but found too uncomfortable even as I liked the world and mechanics. I come from a time before smart phones and the such. You are very welcome for the updates. I try to share as I release new updates, and this site is one of the first ones I usually update since I actually get a surprising amount of traffic from it. As for "Adult" games being good in their own right. Its a mixed bag really. A lot of games are just about the spam, but increasingly I see people trying to tell a story first with pron just being a part of that story instead of the other way around. I personally try to approach a story by asking "If I pulled all of the 'adult' content from the game, would it still be a complete and enjoyable story?" I hope that you enjoy the game when you get around to playing it. Its fairly dark, along the lines of what HP Lovecraft used to write But expect to invest a substantial amount of time into the game if you start to play. Its a little over 320k words of content as of right now, and even if you'll only likely see a third of that in any given playthrough, its still quite a bit of reading. My other projects are built in similar formats. The Puppet Master is my first completed game and is quite a bit simpler (And smaller) than my other projects. Re: The Allure of Wanton Cove I used to really enjoy writing as a kid, so when I hurt my back a few years back its one of the things I started doing to pass the time while I learned how to walk again (Literally, spent about three years unable to walk without something to hold on to, and about seven years later I still don't move the way I should. ). I did a lot of online roleplay, then shifted to doing a little writing on this site and elsewhere. Eventually I discovered the game making program I use to make my games and started playing around with that. The rest of the story is what you see. The Allure of Wanton Cove is my most popular project to date, but I've also got a completed project behind me named The Puppet Master, a project that has been largely abandoned named Futa Apocalypse (It was the first project I tried to present in game format. Re: The Allure of Wanton Cove I promise a single update once a month, with 3k words of content. In reality, I usually manage a new update closer to every 2 weeks with more like +5k words of content. Last December the game was a bit shy of 100k words of content, so I guess its averaged about 17k words of growth a month. (10 months, 175k words of growth (Give or take), not perfect math, but its in the ballpark. )While I have another project in the works that I'm trying to put a group of contributors together for (For example, just hired three artists for the game, who will be working for a percentage of any Patreon earnings. In other words, the better the project does, the better they do. Also been talking about the possibility of hiring one or two writers for that one as well.) Wanton Cove is a game that I started alone, and right or wrong, I kind of made up my mind th at I was going to work on it solo until at least the main narrative is complete. So in answer to your question, its just me handling all of the writing and most of the coding. I have a couple of friends who help out with some of the more complicated code, and I have started commissioning art for the game out of the Patreon earnings in the last few months.The word count is partially the size of the game, after three years of development, its getting pretty big, but also it has to do with the skill checks in the game. There are a LOT of scenes in the game that can play out more than one way depending on your character's stats, and the last time I poked around the code to look (Its been a while, so it may be more than this now) I estimated that you'd have to play the game's content about eight times in order to see everything the game has to offer. Granted, probably 2/3 of all the content is available in a single play through assuming you k now where to look for everything.Thank you for the message, I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying the game so far!
