2 things. 1. 19's ideas were exactly what I was going for. I would even go a step further and say, each season would affect the purchasing of certain goods, like for example, in Christmas, you'd sell more apples, grapes, etc. In summer, you'd probably sell more oranges and citrus fruits in general, and in the fall you'd maybe sell extra pumpkins. IDK about spring though, because, well, I don't have spring where I live. !You could also make it so the user can choose the country where their farm is, and that could affect certain factors, like prices of land, upgrades or, as I said above, it could affect the crops you can grow, or the climate.2. I think I'll stick to python because its super-duper awesome! And, its taught by Nathan Smith of NathanTech! Pure Basic doesn't have that.Anyway, ignore point 2, and I think I gave you some good ideas to wwork on.

I like Dark's suggestions really, but I'd argue on paper it sounds too limited.Instead here's how I'd do it. Taking Dark's ideas a starting point.1. You start n your farmhouse. You need to buy the equipment. Start with one tractor. No attachments. Need to plant crops? Get money, buy the right equipment. Want to keep animals? Buy and build a barn, for instance...Buy the barn blueprints. it takes up two squares. You go to those squares and make sure you got enough wood, nails, etc. You then need to do something to build it, maybe wait, or do a minigame to build it.You don't just pick plants. You harvest them and put them in silos, then sell or use what's in there. No grain in a silo? Can't feed your chickens. No vegetables in the storage bins? Pigs go hungry.Point is. Make it detailed and interesting and interactive. Right now it sounds like a simple phone game you play while taking a dump. Which is okay if that's all it is. But Dark's got some good ideas.Here's how I'd lay it out.Start off in the farmhouse and you got a PC near yu to shop online, you got a car that teleports you to a town area. This is where you buy and sell stuff, equipment, goods, animals, and so on. The prices fluctuate depending on time of year and month. So you start with one field and a tractor.Fields are divvied up into grid squares, but there's no coordinate system. Instead it's field 1 or field 2 and so on. You start off with one field, farmhouse, and enough money to get by. Your job is to earn enough money to keep the farm going for a decade. Now here's the catch.Okay. Two catchesEvery year is 4 seasons. Every ten minues RL time is a season. In that time, you need to get everything done and prepare for the upcoming season. Certain plants won't grow in some seasons, some animals prefer one season over another.This is where upgrades come in. You need an upgrade to do things, like planting. Gotta plow and seed the field first else it won't grow very well.Weather would also be a factor. If it rains, great, don't have to water the plants. If it's too hot and dry...yeah you're in trouble.Point is, make it detailed and fun, don't just say oh I'm doing a farm game. I gave you a good outline just now of what farming is, with a good end goal that's Harvest Moon esque. Something like that would work well IMO. Your original idea doesn't have much to do with the details of farming though Rory, that's the isue I got with it.

@rori, sounds like a great idea, people have wanted this type of game for a while, and strategy games are always good. Myself, I would suggest you make sure of the following: Firstly, that players will need one resource to buy another thus having to buy strategically. In reality, you can't just buy animals and plants and expect them to produce more cash for you. You need to fertilise plants, pull weeds and water them, whilst even animals that eat grass need to be taken care of (for a start making sure your grass is okay), and of course not all animals eat grass, chickens and poltry eat graine and pigs eat mash made from vegetables. I'd also suggest looking into actual types of plants, EG  buries like blooberries are produced on bushes, corn grows in rows of single plants.I'd suggest the following. 1: planting a plant takes a set amount of fertiliser which must either be bought or got from cows and other animals. 2: plants need watering every 2 minutes, if not watered for ten minutes they die. 3: Plants can be harvested every 3 or 4 minutes and the produce sold for money. 4: You can employ a worker to automate the harvesting and watering of a plant for you, but these cost money, more money than you'd get from one plant, which is where animals come in. 5: Fertiliser can either be bought, or got from cows.6: Cows produce fertiliser, and after 10 minutes will have a carf which can either be sold or placed somewhere else to produce more fertiliser, however each tyle only produces enough grass for one cow, so you need to move them around.7: Sheep produce wool which can be sold, though you need to sheer your sheep to do this. after ten minutes sheep ill produce a lamb which can either be sold or used to make more wool, though again, each grass tile only contains enough grass for one sheep. 8: chickens can be bought and placed on a tile, they need feeding every minute or you need to employ a worker, however every time you feed the chickens they produce eggs which can be sold (chickens lay eggs often).9: chickens need corn to be fed, which you must harvest from corn plants, however each plant produces way more corn than necessary, EG a chicken eats one corn a minute, a corn plant produces 10 corn every three or four minutes. 10: Pigs can be bought and placed and after ten minutes will produce a piglot. the piglot can be sold for a lot. 11: pigs eat vegitables which need to either be bought or harvested, however each vegitable garden you have produces more vedge than one pig needs, EG each  garden  produces 15 vedgitables every three minutes, pigs eat 1 vedge a minute. 12: you can assign a worker to take care of any animal, however workers again cost money, though if your making enough from animals you can afford them.I'd suggest that the game have an alert system and coordinates, so when either a plant had gone without water, an animal without food or the like you'd get a message, EG "vedgetable garden at 15-22 needs water" something like this would work I think, and be a challenging game to play, especially if the system of worker highering were sorted so that you would still need to take care of tasks yourself to keep more workers employed rather than automating everything.

I have been creating a game where you have a 2d field where you can buy animals, interact with them, earn cash, get trees for auto cash, like apple trees, banana trees, sugar cane plants, etc. Also, can someone correct these for me?corn treesugarcane plantblueberry treeI'm not sure which words to use.The animals also move around and such similar things, however are restricted to boundaries so it's not too hard to find them. When you buy something, it spawns on the coords you are at, and if it is an animal it is restricted to walking four tiles outward in all directions, e.g. four west and also four north.You can put multiple animals on one tile but you can only put one tree. You win by putting 400 trees.
