Re: any way to play gamevial games?

Yeah, I remember there being no download available.I tried looking at the html source on the wayback machine to see if I could possibly find a URL to a file it might've been trying to run, but my knowledge of html code is poor at best, so I didn't know what to look for. Maybe it's there, maybe it isn't. I have a gut feeling though that the files would be small enough that the wayback machine might have archived them. I've downloaded files up to maybe 30 mb from there, maybe a little bigger, though the bigger the file is, the less likely they probably are to have it archived.

Re: any way to play gamevial games?

If the swf files were still kicking around it might be possible to run the games with either the stand alone flash player or with Internet explorer, particularly since the games output to Sapi so there would be no screen reading issue, but I only ever saw the games on their website and there was no way to download them.

Re: any way to play gamevial games?

Shame!I thought macromedia flash games could be downloaded and played offline if you had the right stuff installed, since some of the experimental games seemed to work that way. You didn't play them in the browser, you launched and played a .swf file and if you had the right stuff installed, the game worked. Way back when I found a way to play such games, but I can't remember how I did it. Maybe I'll try to figure that out again, since I have some fond memories of those experimental games too. Anyway I was hoping Gamevial stuff could potentially work the same way if we could find the .swf files or whatever they were using behind the scenes to play them from the web site.

Re: any way to play gamevial games?

Unfortunately from This article, it sounds like gamevial is entirely gone, particularly because all of their games were built in macrmedia shockwave, which is no longer supported by chrome or firefox, even if their games were working. it's a shame, I actually had a chat with them on the phone, since they were based in Scotland and I lived very close to the boarder at the time, and they had some fun titles, Rebound I particularly liked, and still regard as one of the best attempts to turn atari classic breakout to an audio game.Still, even if they were around, the games would probably take a rewrite to work properly these days.

Re: any way to play gamevial games?

Rebound was a particularly fun game to play (that is, when it still worked). I tried Ralley Racer a little bit, and I think I got kind of good.

any way to play gamevial games?

Hi all,A number of years ago, there was a website in existance, iirc the URl is accessiblewebgames.com. It contained a number of flash/swf games which could be played in the browser. PCSGames still has information about the games on their site, which I'll put below:PCSGames wrote:Aremapetol, audio online game. 3D action arcade style maze game with a 'shoot-em-up' twist, where you have to deal with demon chimps. ReBound, accessible web game. The classic Bat and ball arcade game goes 3D, and with style. A tribute to classics such as Arkanoid, Krakout, and pong. Colonel Zieg, accessible online game. A 3D hunt for components where you play the stranded Colonel Zieg Aracade Rally Racer, sound game. Speed is your friend. An Arcade racing game where you have to avoid the cars to get to the head of the race Strange Halls, accessible audio game. 2D adventure classic where you quest for gold, chingThe only one I remember being good at is Rally Racer, the others I either didn't understand or felt really clunky, especially Strange Halls which seemed simple but often it felt like I wasn't in control. But that was back on my XP days when I wasn't very good at games. Now I feel like I would be better at them, or at least be able to figure out why I find them less playable.I managed to find Gamevial on the wayback machine here, but am unable to play the games. I'm not sure if my shockwave isn't working, or if the games legit aren't available there (I'm guessing the latter). My thought, though, was that since the shockwave player is required to play them, then the games must be in .swf format or something similar and could be downloaded and played offline, if my very limited understanding of this stuff is accurate. Of course, online scor posting, which I believe was a feature of these games, wouldn't work. But for me, online scoring was never important, so I was hoping to enjoy the gameplay. Can anyone offer information on whether or not we can download/play the games and if so, how to do it? Thanks!
