Could you imagine if Troopinum2 became Troopinum3d? We would have a full 3d space commander type of game. Imagine Lord Vector as the final boss in that one. He would give Julius Brutus in TDV a run for his money.

Hi Dark,Interesting that. I recall reading the mailing list, and don't recall the message where Jason said he  would take an extended break from development. I remember after the initial beta he had posted on this forum and said he coded he systems like magic, armor, etc. I guess we can hope we get a game like Entombed, or the next  Entombed someday.

Interesting thoughts here, and some (like the somethinelse games), which didn't occur to me, but are a great idea nonetheless.@Ghost, as regards Entombed Ii, in 2015 Jason alan was on the list saying he'd experience something of a change in circumstances and wouldn't be working on the game as was, it was a shame since while the alpha he produced wasn't exactly playable, it had some really good ideas and would've been built with modable content Interestingly enough, a few here are games I still need to play myself, particularly a hero's call and the earlier bk games.

Hi,Sorry for the double post, but I just thought of another game that could do with a remake: Death Match Project Alpha. It would be awesome if it was made into a fully 3D game, along with the announcement thingy maybe being spoken by an actual person etc. Even better would be a revival of the online mode, but this will probabbly never happen since the dev of these games has pretty much abandoned audiogame development from what I have seen.

Re: audiogames that deserve remake?

Hi,As for games I’d love to see a remake of or a sequel game, my top three would be:1.    Entombed: it was one of the first audio games I played, and even years on its still a favourite. I think there were lots of things that made Entombed so much fun, one was definitely its replay value. I think things which added to the replay value was the procedurally generated nature of the game which gave us randomly  generated maps,  items equipment and quests  and the all-important random surprise of who you’d end up with in your party after rescuing the random new party members throughout  the game, and the strange party make  up you could end up with . I think also its option to allow you to select a combination  of race and class gave a nice amount of variety, I also really liked the online scoreboard too, which I think added a nice amount of competitiveness to the game, I know I spent many hours on different playthroughs with different class/race combinations in hard mode trying to get the number one spot hahaha. so even though it’s a little dated now, I’d love to see Jason Allan return to  finish entombed 22.    A heroes call, I really enjoyed playing this, there were some great sounds and soundscapes in this one, it had a nice amount of side quests to complete too. It’s a shame Out of sight games don’t seem to be active anymore as I would have loved to see what they would have done with their second title. I think they pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved with an audio game, I think personally to me when playing the game its felt the closest to playing a main stream game than any other audio game I’ve played. That’s not putting down other audio games, I just think with the fantastic sound design and all the voice acting and characters and quests in the game along with its 3D feel and controller support it really made me feel like I was back playing a main stream game.3.    The Something else games have to feature in here, I’d love to just have the old titles back on my iPhone and give them all another play through.Anyway, that’s my personal top three games I’d love to see remade Paul Lemm

Re: audiogames that deserve remake?

Most people have already touched on many of my thoughts, but here's my insight. Before I start with a list, I should preface this by saying I'm big on the texture of the environments in games. I think exploring various different outdoor environments can really get me into a game, I have no idea why. Even though I'm not an outdoors person, I absolutely love the texture of outdoor sounds if that makes any sense. Grass, gravel, leaves, mud, water, birds, crickets etc. all do something to me when I can interact with them in a game. The crisper and closer they are recorded, the more I tend to like them. That probably sounds really weird and absurd to some people, but yeah. And then to have a solid movement/exploration system with those sounds providing atmosphere, it captivates me. The game doesn't even need to be that complex either to make that work. That alone has driven me to games like...1. Super Liam, Tarzan Junior and Hunter.I feel like all three of these could be turned into much, much more immersive experiences today.I'd love to see some platforming or just more variation in enemies in Super Liam. Afaik Liam was working on that once upon a time, but pretty much shelved that in favor of the April fools joke which was Super Liam II.Tarzan Junior would be amazing with more side-scrolling exploration and less repetitive/more varied tasks. Similar to Perilous Hearts. Level 3 comes to mind where you have to cross the river guarded by the monkeys. I'd love to hear the monkeys roaming around, or to dive under the water to see if I could find random power-ups there. I'd like to maybe explore the trees, testing my luck to see what items I can snag from the monkeys or the brittle branches.I'd love to see flushed-out 2D maps in Hunter similar to a Blind legend or the Papa Sangre games. Hunter is probably my favorite retro game when it comes to the diverse texture of the environments. A Blind Legend and especially the first Papa Sangre far surpass it for me, but those games are far newer. If Hunterr's environments could be brought up to match, I'd be all over that. I can imagine it right now, I'm exploring the jungle, the swamp, the tiger valley, the caves... all of which have intelligent enemies and animals I have to deal with, and my goal is simply to make it from one end of the map to the other, say bottom left to top right. The game works in such a way so that navigation isn't complex; you don't have to work your way around complex obstacles or anything, but you do have to avoid taking wrong steps into quicksand or  waterfalls, or off the mountain cliffs, and you have to be careful when encountering enemies and animals. The only real difficult part of this formula would be implementing a first-person view where you can turn and face things. Sooner or later you're going to lose track of which direction to go. I mean, you could always forgo that and just move forward and right and not be able to turn, but where's the fun in that, especially if you want binaural audio? A really creative and brutil way to handle that would be to place certain things on regions of the map you don't have to go, like make the top left or bototm right sections especially difficult, with the promise of goodies if you can get them, but also the risk of horrific death if you press your skills too hard.As it stands, the repetition of all three games gets old, and in the case of Hunter and Tarzan Junior, each level is its own thing, it almost feels like I'm playing 10 minigames, especially with Hunter. My imagination has to step in and remind me that this is one adventure. I have no problem with that really, I just have a slightly bigger preference for adventure games where I can rely on a stable set of mechanics to pull me thorugh.Funny enough, reading the hunter story immersed me more than the game did. At multiple points it had me sadly bowing my head and wishing the story was the game.Of course, all three games would be really awesome with high quality sound effects. The original sounds were great for their time, and many still hold up today, but there is a certain quality they have which for me doesn't age so well anymore, probably because the sounds are so familiar to me now. It's like the sounds themselves are pretty good, but weren't quite meant to be together at times.2. Shades of Doom, Technoshock, Monkey Business and Night of Parasite. All four of these deserve the Code Dungeon treatment I think. If the atmosphere was amped up with immersive binaural sound and professional quality sound effects which weren't ripped from games, all four would be an even bigger blast for me to play and explore. Heck, the levels wouldn't need to change, just the sounds and audio handling! All of those games have great level design imho, but in some cases are plagued with bugs and balance issues at higher difficulties.3. Pipe 2 Blast Chamber would also be cool as a remake.I didn't initially think

Re: audiogames that deserve remake?

I myself would love to see all 3 BK games combined, kind of like Super Mario Allstar if anyone remembers that. That way, you can still play those games the same way you played them before, but the bonus stages and mini games and such would be more integrated if that makes sense. It would also help with translation, seeing as how if it's just 3 games in 1 program they can use the same translation system . That would be a huge undertaking though, and seeing as how Nyanchan is still in college as far as I'm aware that's probably not something he'd feasibly be able to work on right now.

Revisiting that game was always fun, and if there was a remake, hopefully the buttons would be labeled for those who can't see them, or there could be swipe controls.4. The iOS version of AudioSpeed. One of the better games from audiogames association, it would be nice to see this one be updated for 64bit devices.5. Escape the House. A game that I had tried, but I always failed at it.6. Audio Archery. This game was a good little time waster, and it would be nice to play it again.7. AudioRun. Not the most advanced game, but a good little time waster.8. Solara. Most if not all people who have been in the audio gaming scene have heard of this one.9. Where's my Rubber Duckey. A fun game, but I could never pass round 10.That's all I can think of right now

For me the answer is absolutely Entombed. I really haven't enjoyed or been into any game as much as entombed. It has insane expansion potential and this was happening with the new beta in 2015.  Dark was there a private beta group? I heard somewhere on this forum that more private betas were being developed that wern't posted on the mailing list. I really hope the dev just took a break and will continue writing the new one.As for Lone Wolf, its on David Greenwood's list of projects. He will be writing tank commander from the ground up, and then will come lone wolf and VIP mud. He stated this many years ago on the GMA list.

Re: audiogames that deserve remake?

@Julian, it was actually Sightless horseman who started the topic . Night of parasite is one I hadn't thought off myself, though I confess the moving enemy system, and the need to literally count every step in that got annoying fast for me. Personally, Chillingham and grizly gulch wouldn't be high on my list of remakes, they've got some cute and funny audio and a nice, relaxed atmosphere, but the gameplay is so primitively boppity, that the games would need to be made basically unrecognisable to really cut it today, even the story in chillingham is cursory at best (look at the stupidly large amount of bug hunting). Better to just hope for more good quality western or horror games in the future, heck A western drama, even with it's issues blue grizzly gulch out of the water.I'd love to see better translations of some Japanese titles like shadow rine and the older bk games, and would be more than glad to pay as was the case with bk3, though whether that counts as a remake I'm not sure.

@10: I completely agree. So, here is my list:remakes:1. Grizzly Gulch and Chillingham: Although these games are still playable, you can clearly see that they were made around 15-20 years ago. With updated mechanics, remakes of these games would be awesome.2. Night Of Parasite: I think that this game is actually really underrated to be honest. But because it doesn't ahve any ambience, background music etc. it is kind of boring to play today. A remake with a more modern design would really rock.3. I agree about the savage gammut, although I only played it briefly because the key combinations were really frustrating me at that time. That's all games I can think of for now that would deserve a remake. Re: audiogames that deserve remake?

Interesting topic. One question I wonder though, is where is the line between sequel, remake, and expanded contend? Games like Superliam and lone wolf are still no problem to run on modern windows. That they could do with some expansion or a sequel I certainly agree, Albeit lone wolf is a game I've never done too well with myself, however it seems a bit strange to start talking of direct remakes, IE, the same game redone with a different programming languages and perhaps some different decisions made, such as happened between the old and new versions of Egg hunt, beatstar  or great toy robbery, when the originals are still here. So, while I'd certainly be up for a superliam 2 or a lone wolf expanded operations, whether you'd need a complete tear down and remake I honestly don't know. here however are a few of my suggestions for remakes; 1: Entombed! This actually started to happen with Entombed ii taking into account a lot of the things people wanted expanded in the first game, front/back ranks for more tactical combat, the ability for magic to miss, a slightly less ridiculous system for material hardness, and in built customisation options, a shame development stopped. Entombed just had so many cool little systems, from auto created weapons and monster heroes to the body part damage system, to the creation of corpses and skeletons, it'd be great to see these worked into a different game which ironed out the bugs and class imbalances, as well as added a bit more variety. Really, even now with Manamon and A hero's call and so on, there've been no audio games quite like entombed for pure tactical dungeon diving fun and having to work with what adventurers you find to form the best party.2: Galaxy ranger. When I think back on all of Vipgameszone's titles, galaxy ranger is the one which stands out to me the most, even compared to lords of the galaxy with it's richer soundscapes, cute minigames and entirely %100 imbalanced gameplay .Of course, real time strategy games have advanced a long way, but Galaxy ranger had so many fun little systems, like the need to play stereo targeting with your robotic units, and physically take control in battle, and the really fun way you had to balance unit's strengths and weaknesses (especially when you had only a limited maximum number of each unit available). A remade, and indeed expanded version, with perhaps more emphasis on production rather than taking all of your robotic workers off the map, not to mention a better online system would be awesome, using the best of what has been learned about designing strategy games in the intervening years to make something special, since wow I have so many fond memories of sitting their in my space cruser, having already blasted away the enemy's defences, counting down the squares until I could hit delete and drop the bomb .3: Pipe 2, blast chamber. While it is possible to run the BSC titles on modern windows, it's far more problematic to do, and this one I've never got to run at all. thinking about the BSC games now, I think for me, pipe 2 is the most inervative. Hunter had fantastic soundscapes and was almost a proto crazy party in terms of different minigames, but each game individually was comparatively simple, while troopanum 2, though undoubtedly one of the most polished examples of a space invaders game we've seen, is still at rock bottom a space invaders game.Pipe 2 however took the simple, and indeed rather dull idea of the original pipe, and just added factor after factor after factor, so that rather than just playing one arcade game, or indeed several arcade games, you were effectively playing three or four minigames at once. Hammering the pipes, dodging electricity, stereo targeting the rats, playing lock pick with the chests, even sticking in the occasional superliam style side scroller, playing memory with the spiders, not to mention the swapping numbers bomb defusing and the fact all of this was on a timer. Pipe 2 is one of the best examples I've seen of how to increase the difficulty of an audio game without either overloading the soundscape, or simply having a faster reacting boppit, which made it in turn a more rewarding game to play. Even though I did like the actual environments far more in hunter, if we're talking a total remake and I had to pick one bsc title, I think it'd be pipe 2. 4: Freefall. Okay, picking a doss text adventure is probably cheating a wee bit here, but honestly Freefall is one of the most unique things I've played. Frustrating as hell, with a clunky parser, staggering travel distances and brutal resource management, and yet rarely have I played a game, even counting muds like clok, where I really feel like I'm preparing for an epic fantasy journey in the wild quite like this, with the need to manage food and water, and even reaching the next town over an achievement. I also absolutely loved the way that Fallthru introduced it's world, with the need

AHC2, AAC2, and as Simba said, Lone Wolf would be awesome in this day and age. And for once I'd have to agree with Pax.

Re: audiogames that deserve remake?

I'll say showdown. All the game itself without adding anything new, only with a different programming language. Should be simple enough for any developer who knows his job and is willing to spend some time on it. The only flaw of the game is that when the game gets to intense, I reflexively want to press one of the arrow keys and space bar at the same time, which the game doesn't let me do. I wonder did Philip do this on purpose or was this a limitation of Java.

troopanum 2.0 was awesome for a space invaders game. Would also love to see a sequal to a hero's call. But obviously neither of these are going to happen.

Re: audiogames that deserve remake?

The savage gambit. Seriously, that game is awesome even for today's standards of audio games. It is the closest thing to a mainstream fighting game we have right now and the only decent boxing audio game.If someone could remake the game customizable, with the ability to create new characters and new combos it would really rock.

audiogames that deserve remake?

Hey everyone.Although I drifted off into mainstream territory for the most part, I do come back for the ocasional oldy to play around with the games of my childhood. While playing, I was wondering, what games in your opinion would deserve a remake? Maybe we got developers around who are searching for a new project and would try their hand at one of the suggestions. Here are mine, just 2 for now.1: PCS shooting range.Originally for doss, this would be awesome as a new version ported on modern systems. With up to date soundds especially for the different types of guns, new objects to destroy in the junkyard and the ability to create custom objects to shoot at, this would be a pritty nicely remodeled time waster.2: GMA lonewolf. A game that sadly fell under the radar for most and a lot of you might not even remember it, but if you put the game into a new rapper with as well updated and more modern sounds, a modernised submarine some more features and what not, this would also be a new tactical experience.3: TDV 2.Not really a remake, but more of a way to create custom missions or mission sets to bring own ideas into the game or replay certain action scenes of your favorite books or movies, for example top gun, red storm rising and what not.If it would be possible to aditionally create your own weapons, this would be a haven for customisation fans.so, these are my ideas, what are yours?Greetings moritz.
