By the sound of it, the admins are definitely going to shut this thread down. The owners haven't complained, nor have the majority of users, but apparently some fictional mainstream developers have been complaining in the future. That is according to a figment of someone's imagination anyway. So I really think we need to get it sorted now so everyone can be alerted before the thread is taken down. They'll probably stop anyone linking to the alternative forum as well. A tiny minority of uncompromising people who need everything black and white are running the show so we'll have to go elsewhere if we want to continue to bring down netflix and the like by sharing mp3 recordings of audio described content with a few hundred people. We are despicable criminals and need a seedy back room of our own to plan our grand thefts. . Thank you sir, you are very generous. @RTT entertainment, The movie Forrest Gump has been on the vault for about 5 months now, it wasn't added recently, so you probably made a typo while searching for it, or were searching in the wrong section entirely. Thanks kool turk and CW for links and the info @simba, Thank you for those corrections but a few things have me a bit stumpt. Dark season 2 that was added recently is Actually English described with English audio, that said, we also have uploaded dark season 1 in English now. Dark season 1 that was previously there has been renamed to german described as it was is in german. The uploaders have been doing a great amount of hard work and getting all those shows/ movies. Many tv shows that have wierd names are also getting fixed, although when you download them they may still have that wierd name, which is easily fixed if you know how to rename. Thank you guys for the nice comments/ praze, your appriciation is a boost One thing I would highly like to stress upon though, is download what you want to heare/ and or something that you'd like to listen to, and don't just go grabbing everything, that puts a heavy load on the server, which isn't fare to the other users who may experience slow speeds etc.@je97, Thank you, like I said, I already have a backup in place, another is getting done slowly, and if anyone else is interested in being another backup as long as you have the space and the bandwidth for it, get in touch. and I highly doubt that a file on the server could've nuked your hdd, most of them are were from the blind mice tv shows from when they were still available. about the radio shows and drama content, Thank you for your generous offer there, But for now, I would prefer to stick to audio described tv shows and movies, once that's in order, we will see where to go from there on out. so I will definitely keep your offer in mind. @cw and omer, Thank you. I understand that not everyone has the finances to donate, so as long as you are enjoying the site, its just as good. Shows of note along with movies that have been added of late are Chernobyl (2019), Murder Mystery 2019, Bosch - Season 5 (2019) and loads more. We do have a considerable queue of files to be added, so if stuff that you have been asking for doesn't get added soon, do not fret. If audio description exists for the movies and shows requested, and if I or one of the other uploaders have mentioned that we might be able to get our hands on it, it will get to the vault eventually. Have run into a slight issue that's to do with linux and windows filesystem but I am sure we will work it out. Shows of note to have been added lately (just in case if you haven't visited the vault in a while) are agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 5, good omens, society and so on. @RTT entertainment, a lot of questions/ concerns there let me see if I can answer/ help with a few of them. Thank you for your note about Wentworth, Which season is not described? is it all of them? In case 1 season isn't described but the rest are we usually try and keep that on. But yes, I could add that in the name as soon as you tell me which season is it that wasn't described. As for having description for each file that is movies and shows on there, the vault has ober 8562 different titles, and I myself don't fancy adding description by hand to all of them. IMDB integration is something that we plan on doing if we are able to, but most users just tend to google the movies/ shows if they don't know about them, so we have it on a low priority atm. About having certain show's season as a single zip file, Whilst I do see your point there, it would be inconvenient for almost everybody. I.E what if someone has season Y of a certain show, and wants only Season Z? and yes, cluttered folders and the like can be a pain in the arse, but you do know you can move your folders/ files around? so that they are no longer cluttering your computer/ hard drive. alternatively, you possibly could download all the seasons of a show you want, and zip them all up into a single file, again reducing clutter. BMMV is a donationware service that used to provide both movies and shows to everybody, but lately they have gotten rid of their shows and allow only people in the US access to audiodescribed content. I see a lot of requests like "I have a nephew/niece/old uncle with sight problems, where can I get audio description for xxx"? Audiovault is one thing, but an audiodescription Reddit would let people share links to content they ripped, ripping guides etc. Also Reddit only acts when they get a DMCA complaint, when they have to, not prematurely.On a related note, article 13 should really worry you. If people were be given read-only ftp access to the Audiovault server, they could make backups. Of course, no one will grab the whole thing, but grabbing everything starting with a single letter of the alphabet is be realistic. That way, Audio Vault could easily be reconstructed if/when the servers are raided and Grryfindore goes to jail. I have been backing up the server on my slow internet hence haven't updated you guys in a while, but couldn't wait to post the above before I had anything substancial to update you all with. The mailing list will be created soon, but I hope the Mods actually listen to the many users that have posted disagreeing with their stance, or at least ask richard and Sandarman and carry on, rather than just stick to The utter letter of the law without consideration for humanity. The copywrite trolls (I won't name any names here but looking at the topic I linked to ought to tell you who they are clearly enough) make me sick, But all the people that have supported the audiovault so far, by either speaking for it (which shows how strongly they feel about it), the shows and movies of course, without those the vault wouldn't be where it is today, and the financial support, without which we couldn't keep the server going and let everyone no matter where they live have access to ADV as long as they have internet. As much as I used to like this place at least when dark was on the helm and kept things in order for the most part, if the mods indeed end up closing this topic we will need to open a channel of communication, probably either a mailing list or a subredit or both Either way, it won't be a good thing for the vault, as most of our support be it financial or otherwise comes through this forum, and the fact that many blind people who don't know about audio described content being a thing, or people looking for an alternative to bmmv would miss out knowing about the audiovault and thereby miss out on the ADV, which goes against what I created this site for.
