If anyone here has trouble making your system boot then here is something I got to work on both a Toshiba laptop and a custom built laptop. I have done this with the latest win 10 creator's update but I'm about to try this with the 64 bit version of this image. So basically you go into the recovery options in windows 10 itself and then you click on click to restart in advanced settings. Now this requires you to know the boot order of your PC, but I hit down arrow once and then hit enter and sure enough it booted off USB. So those of you like myself that had issues booting these images, this may have been the breakthrough you have been looking for if you will. I hope this helps. If I can get this image, I can create a windows boot device, use the sighted assistance of my 7 year old brother to get me through the bios and boot from a different device, which will be this 8GB flashdrive that I can load windows from. Maybe I can run a backup of my computer if I can install bgt to run my backup utility... You'll need to make a change in your computer's BIOS settings to change the boot order. The procedure for doing this is different from manufacturer to manufacturer, and it is not accessible, nor is there any way it can be made accessible. You will need sighted help for this procedure. The Mac allows programatic changing of the firmware NVRAM variables in OS X, which includes changing the boot device for both single-use and thereafter. Ditto for Linux, albeit that the support is more general-purpose. Is there really no way to achieve this under Doze? A command-line tool or such? As far as I know, if your computer boots from the hard drive by default, there's no way to change that without going into the BIOS, which is inaccessible. Also, even when you're in the BIOS, the procedure for making any changes varies from computer to computer, which is why there has never been a guide to doing this without sighted assistance, and also probably why there's no Windows tool to do this. Different computer and BIOS manufacturers do it differently. An industry standard would have worked wonders here, but unfortunately it seems none was ever developed. So as far as I know, you're out of luck until you can get sighted assistance, as is anyone else who wants to use this. That is mandatory as of the MBP 2015, as BIOS CSM mode is no longer supported. You will not be able to use any version of Windows prior to 8.I can confirm that a full, solo install of Windows 8.1 is entirely possible on Apple hardware--a MBP 2014, in EFI mode. You need an external USB headset for your audio. Simply copy the contents of the X64 ISO onto a USB device formatted as "MS-DOS (FAT)" (FAT32) with a GPT partition scheme. Copy the files you need for the installation of Windows into a subdirectory. Copy the drivers obtained from BootCamp Assistant. Then boot the stick to install Windows.If you will be dual-booting, partition your drive manually; don't use BCA to install Windows. The steps are somewhat involved. I'll cover them if you're still in need of help, but get the talking PE up and running first. Essentially though, you will perform the partitioning manually and revert the partition table to a pure GPT scheme rather than a hybrid scheme. The hybrid scheme trips up the Windows installer, but the pure GPT scheme is compatible. Windows will reuse the OS X EFI System Partition supplied by OS X and install Windows in the unallocated space you provide while repartitioning. I have been using talking WinPE to help people reformat and reinstall Windows all this while and it is awesome. Now I have another problem. Soon I might need to format an XP machine, and I am not sure if this PE or the previous Win7 PE will work. @gellman or others, can you kindly explain how to get XP to install with speech? It is not a VM, but just an old machine which still run great on XP. I will need to clean the hard drive though, since it is virus infested. Let me tell you, I spent about six hours straight just trying to get everything to work, because every time I tried something, it either backfired or something went wrong and I had to keep troubleshooting until I nearly got a headache from working on the same thing for a long long time.First, let me start out by explaining whats going on. I purchased a Windows7 X64, service Pack 2 installation disc with Amazon. My mac was recently restored due to excessive water damage, so the hard drive had to be replaced as well. Unfortunately, there were a few minor changes from the time Chris Hal, the author of how to install Windows without sighted Assistance on Bootcamp had written it. For example, there is no format file system selection like the one he talked about, and Bootcamp is able to provide sound support.Heres where things started to go awry. Last Monday, I went over to my local co mmunity college and one of the tech specialists guided me through the installation. It took about half an hour to complete. Once that was done, I had to pack up my computer because my ride was coming, and I had also made a terrible mistake. I accidentally left the boot camp drivers at home. This caused another problem to come up. The keyboard only worked on the log on screen, but once I logged in, both the keyboard and the mouse were totally unresponsive, dead to the world. The only thing that worked was the Windows L key, which locked the screen, and when I pressed shift five times, the sticky keys message came up. Also, I heard no sound--I knew what was on the screen because someone told me what was on it.So, I decided to go for a plan B. I went on-line to download VM Fusion 8 Professional, and from there I made a virtual disc based on the Bootcamp partition. That went smoothly until I found that I couldnt pass keys over to the Windows side. Every time I tried doing a Windows command, the Mac would make the familiar thump sound. Occasionally narrator would say something like tab or shift tab, but nothing else.So then I went over to plan C. About a week ago, I was on the Apple Vis web site, and under the podcasts section I found one where someone named Armando described how to install Windows. So I listened to it yesterday, and he talked about installing Windows 8 using the talking installation disc. He wasnt very clear on the directions though. For example, when my mac restarted to begin the installation, I dont remember him saying he had to unplug his flash drive any time before or while the Mac was starting up, so that required some trial and error. I had to constantly restore and build partitions.I digress, so Ill back up a little bit. All of that happened yesterday night, so while I was sleeping, my desktop was downloading the zip file containing the TWPE second release, which included the Mega install.I we nt in and looked at the read me file, as well as the change log, and at first I was not able to comprehend the fact that my installation CD wouldnt work with the preinstallation environment. I just went ahead and got the necessary software that I would need to work with. First, I tried BurnAware, but that wasnt very accessible, so I gave up. But I discovered that IMGBurn was capable of ripping files onto an ISO image. So I went that route. When that was done, all I had to do was find the perfect flash drive that would support the windows installation. Note that I used IMGBurn to make my bootable installation disc with the talking PE on it, and I used ISOtoUSB to install my copy of Windows onto an SD card that I finally ended up having to use, for it satisfied the necessitated criteria.I took a quick nap, and resumed the problem at hand when I awoke. Now that I had everything in place, I went ahead and began the installation. This is where I had to experiment until I finally got the PE to talk. While I was holding down the C key and the mac was chiming, I plucked the flash drive out of the USB port and the disc started spinning shortly thereafter. At around a minute and a half, the familiar NVDA startup sound came up, and I felt my spirits raising considerably. I just crossed a major hurtle and achieved a milestone I thought I could never get passed.So, after having plugged in my flash drive with the SD card in it, I launched setup.exe. Can you imagine the disappointment I felt when it said that this programme was not compatible with the version of Windows I was running? Well, thats how I felt, but I quickly remembered that I had burned the mega version onto my DVD, so I felt a little more hopeful. I launched the other installer and proceded to install Windows. Everything went smoothly until I got to this screen. Installation error. A file appears to be missing or corrupt. Make sure your installation has all the files required to i nstall. Error code: 0x80070017

Every time I hear about them doing crap like that, Im glad I avoid their products as much as possible.---I just finished installing Windows on my new SSD using the talking PE. Man is that thing fast, after Windows was installed, it only took 10 to 15 seconds to boot to the desktop, way cool!I only encountered two problems during the process.The first was a hardware problem. In my laptop, there is some unused space above the hard drive and there are no guide rails to keep the hard drive in place, its held by the power and data connection at one end and a piece of the laptops case on the other. If you try to install a hard drive with the laptop upside down so you can access the bottom, the hard drive will sag into the unused space and miss the power and data connections. The solution was to flip the laptop right side up while installing t he hard drives.The second problem came when it was time to start Narrator, it took several attempts to get it to behave, it seemed to keep unloading when I close the ease of access window to continue the install. Eventually it stayed put and I was able to finish the install. There were no further problems after that.I have my old hard drive back in the laptop so I can finish preparing my files for migration to the SSD.--Oh, and for all you JAWS nay-sayers, NVDA showed that it too could be flakey by not reading the contents of several windows when they openned making the install take longer than it should have because I didnt know the installer was prompting me for more information. The drive is an Intel 2.5-Inch 300 GB Internal Solid State Drive SSDSC2BB300G401 I do occcasionally use hibernate so Ill keep that, but the paging file and superfetch I can probably do without. I believe I know where the paging file setting are, but not how to turn off superfetch.The hard drive Im replacing was 320GB and it had about 210GB free. Right up until the time I run my setup.exe from my windows ISO that I have on a USB. I get the opening screen to set language, currency, etc., then I click next, which takes me to a screen with the Install now button. When I click that button, I get the following error: Windows encountered an internal error while initializing com. I next tried loading the actual install DVD that I made, thinking that the problem could have been since I was using a USB drive, but the same error came up at the exact same point in that case as well. What in the world... Re: talking windows pe four 64 bit installation of windows now available. hi there jeen, now just a tip. i am glad u got windows installed. 1 tip though. if your laptops got more then say six gigs of ram. i recommend u to disable your paging file. it has to do with the fact that the ssd does no longer need this, personally i disable it on mine even with 4 gigs of ram installed, id not do it if u have any thing lower. and if, u wil never use software that, loads or needs all six gigs. its safe to disable the file since space on your ssd is at a premium. and the paging file would mostly be useful if u go beyond that limmit, for windows will then use that file on your drive, as if it was ram. a very slooow process. another tip is to disable the superfetch service in windows. this is redundant technology and was mostly obtomised for pcs that had, hardrives in them, what this does is to look at what u use over time, and load the files in the background in to memory. this is why for example. if u had a hardrive and u opened an ap. it m ite be slow the first time, but much faster next times around. superfetch, also known as prefetch? looks at other thingsas well. how ever. because u now have an ssd, file access times, is no longer an issue. youll be better off disabling this, saving u some ram usage. and to insure u get the fastest access times possible. another tip would also be to disable your hybernation file if u not using it, because, its a space hog and can take any ware between 4 and 12 gigs of space. if u wish not to disable any of these things. u are free to leave them as they are, and no harm wil be done. however i thought that id share this ssd optomisation tips with you. welcome to the ssd club. o yes. they fast. very, believe me, once u on a ssd, youd not wanna go back to a painful slow 5400 laptop drive. its, its agony, what model ssd are u running? and how big is it, in size whise URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=221834#p221834 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Its also a good safety net for if the battery gets critically low, it gives Windows a way to shut down with out losing any data or saving files you may not want to save over existing files.I found both the page file settings and found that superfetc h is a service, I set page file to none and the superfetch service to manual. As I recall, didnt superfetch work by copying retrieved data from a mechanical drive to a nuch faster flash memory drive?As far as disabling the superfetch service goes, setting it to manual will be enough. I check the dependencies and nothing depends on superfetch, so unless I start it myself, windows wont start it. Re: talking windows pe four 64 bit installation of windows now available. ah hello there again jean, smile. well, heres how the deel goes. the boot image that u boot from here. wil speek to u, so that u can install windows. correct? but, after the install is underway. and u get the screen ware it says, installing windows. then the screen that says restart now butten. if u wait on that screen for 10 seconds the first reboot wil happen. now, this is vital. do not. press any keys, but wait, wait for the system to reboot for a second time. or even a third time, this is normal. u should have a way for u to no this. now after the second. or rather, third time, u can press windows key and the letter you. to fire up narrator. for a more simplified approach. i always do the following. if i install and my first, restart now screen appears? i no to wait 20 minutes. before to press narrator. the reason for this is, u get a feel; for how fast the pc is, you see, if it was a hardrive in there, u can let it guide you. and u wil no when the first setu p screen comes up ware u need to choose language and so on. but, because its an SSD. its silent. so 20 minutes is a general ruel of thumb. your milage may very, and u may have to wait a little longer or less longer. now once u press windows key and you? then u tab, to, here text on screen using narrator, be warned the narrator of win seven is a bit finnicky so tab slowly. it also takes some time to inisialise propperly, once u press space on that, here text on screen using narrator, option. so to recap there. u press space on it, then tab to ok butten then press the space bar. then wait a bit. now u wil hopefully be on the windows seven setup screen. if u wish to leave your language on its default US setting, for now. simply press alt and n. to go to the next screen. there u wil get date and time. leave for now. or change if u wish. alt n, again to the next screen. here, u may or may not be prompted for your product key. if u ahave it on hand, enter it now. otherwise? u can do it later after updates is completed. recommended. i personally would not enter it now. as i had some setups going all mad at me and not wanting the key, for some odd obscuer reason. again milage may very here, so its your personal preferance, IMHO. id wait til every things installed then go activate windows manually later. u do have 30 days after all. and hec, even if u did not want to activate, for 30 days u can always re arm the systems activation triggers for another free of charge 30 days grace, all legal and above board. just dont let the activation time expire though. any how, mooving on?now here, the screens veryes, a bit. but u wil get 1 of the following screens, perhaps not in the order i give them here. and, they may or may not appear. so do not be alarmed if u do not see them, i am simply trying to prepair u for every evensuallity.the next screen u shall encounter is the, username and password screen, here u create your de fault admin user, who wil be using the pc. for example?user name, chowy, passwords. woof woof woof.. confirm password? woof woof woof type a password hint, this is needed to make the next butten become available, use any hint u wish. for this example i simply chose the hint, doggie.computer name, is the name others can identify your pc on the network. if u leave this field alone. in my example, it wil default to the name, chowy-pc. feel free to type a new name here, but no spaces please.now, tab to the next butten. and lets see what screen we have next.the next screen wil be your windows updates selection screen. simply choose 1 of the following options. if u want windows to auto install all updates, choose. use recommended settings butten. otherwise? choose the, ask me later butten. to configure this manually. now u may or may not, get the following screen depending on your network configuration. in other words. how u connect to the inter net. this screen wil ask u for your user hame or password. or? it wil say that it found some whireless networks. and u may choose yours and type its password to be connected to the internet. how ever, do not be surprised if u do not see the screen. because some laptops needs why fai spisiffic drivers. to be installed from there website before connecting. others wil not. but wil only connect to the net once setups completed.any how. i only mension this screen for it may pop up. or it may not.and now? we all done. if u click next? u wil here, windows setup. setting up personelised settings for, desktop platform customisations.your wordage may very, uff corse. then narrator mite or mite not start up again. after u hurd the windows log in sound. if u did not here it, u can restart narrator by opening up the run box. by hitting windows key and r. and type the word, narrator. tip. u may have to wait about 1 or 2 minutes from that you here the, setting up pers onelised settings for, desktop platform customisations. message

I am trying to install Windows on a Bootcamp partition so that I can run Windows natively alongside OS X, since using a VM like fusion will cause performance issues. The problem is that with this latest MacBook, Windows 7 is no longer allowed. The user must install Windows 8 or later. The computer will not even boot a win 7 disk, and therefore, I am unable to use the Windows 7 PE that I currently have. However, according to this topic, there is a Windows 8 PE available. However, every attempt I have made to download the files has failed. First, apparently UpToBox is not available in the U.S. Second, I managed to get part 1 off of Sendspace, but parts 2 through 7 give me file not found. The other links to ZipShare involve a captcha that I cannot complete. If someone could provide me a valid link where I can download this, I would greatly appreciate it. It seems rather silly to say that s omething is available when it cannot be downloaded.On a side note, separating this into a multiple part .rar file also seems silly to me. Just upload the .iso file to sendspace or to a dropbox folder. At least there the links can be permanent ones, instead of someone seeing this thread, then trying to download, only to find that the links are dead. If this could somehow be implemented in a next release, I think the com thing might be history... The only thing the end user needs is a shortcut to run NVDA as system. Theres already such a shortcut for cmd, so I imagine that with a bit of tinkering, this could be done for NVDA too. As soon as nvda runs as system, setup seems to run fine. (I still need to fully install a windows to verify, but as far as I can tell, it seems to work)Hope this helps out those who have (as myself) the bad luck that setup doesnt install out of the box / disk / whatever! Re: talking windows pe four 64 bit installation of windows now available. at jene, let me ask you this first. are u planning to clone your existing hardrive, on to the ssd u wish to put in to your laptop? meening. does your current hardrive come with a recovery partition. wich contains your factory version of win seven home premium? if the answer is yes? then yes u can use your product key. how ever. it should not be required. if u using the factory partition to restore your laptop. how ever. if u asking, weather or not u can use your key, to install windows from a different media such as a cd or dvd? my answer is, yes, u can. but its going to be a hit or miss operation. you see. i have a asus netbook for portability. now. i had its hardrive replaced. and installed windows on to it, from a dvd. i had. i then used the asus home premium product key, and, it did work without a hitch. provided that i selected home premium, as the version i wanted to use. tip. using another version of windows wil not allow your key to work. in other words. choosi ng altemit or pro. wil not work. u have to use the exact, same version your laptop came with. the only thing u may do is choose between 32 and 64 bits. how ever. do not try to use the same product key twice. in 30 days. as u may then have to phone in to microsoft to get your system activated. so my answer to you is, out of my experience, yes u can use your key. but also remember to backup your current instelation of windows. so that u can easily clone it to your ssd. if any thing goes wrong. in fact, if u using a samsung ssd, its very easy to do. and u can even prepair windows to boot from that same ssd. and u wil enjoy your current install with all its settings transfered to the ssd. with product key included,windows wil keep right on working happily along. no worries. but to obtomise windows u need to take a few steps before you clone your existing hardrive on to that ssd. hope these tips helps. also remember, that this is my experiences? your milage may very. another tip. i f u asking if u can boot from this disk, then, start up from the in build O E M recovery partition. the short answer is, defenately not. that partition, has its own pre boot environment.ive been trying to work around that one for some time now. and as far as i no. its not possible. u need to boot from it using your laptops hot key. but if u asking if u can use these 32 bit images, that contains NVDA, to put a dvd in your dvd drive and then install windows on to your new ssd? the answer wil be yes. but be warned, u need to make sure u download all the required drivers from your laptops website before hand. because after the install u mite need it. to enable special functionality of your laptop.what i meen is, your recovery partition. that is, the original windows that came with your laptop may have already customised drivers for things like chipsit, USB, graffics and so on. build in to it. so now if u install from another dvd, u wil have a generic set of drivers. thus u mite need to download your drivers again. if u did not yet backed them up. hope all these tips helps. smile URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=221362#p221362 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

The reason for this is because I know my current install of Windows is a little shakey.So all I needed to know was if my OEM product key would work with the copy of Windows installed from the mega disc.For what its worth, what Ive done so far:1. Listened to a youtube video about swapping out the hard drive in my laptop2. Went through the motions of swapping out the hard drive, but simply put my drive back in. The purpose for doing this dry run was to discover any problems that might come along during the actual swap. It was a whole lot easier than I was expecting.3. Downloaded the talking Windows PE.4. Burned the mega image to a DVD5. Tried booting the talking PE. It turned out that the boot order goes to the hard drive first, fortunately BIOS has a hot key for the boot menu, one down arrow selects the optical d rive.5. Windows PE loads and starts talking! (Takes about five minutes to load)At this point I think Im all set, just need to review all the steps to make sure that everything I need is accessable so I can finish this.There are some doubting Thomases in my family, this project should prove to them that being blind doesnt mean Im helpless. They can see and they wouldnt even know where to begin a project like this.And yes, Im having some fun for a change! Its been a long two years since I lost my vision. Depression sucks! Re: talking windows pe four 64 bit installation of windows now available. @criticviewThe setup error you experience is common, but I dont know why.But here are some possible issues:Verify that yor source media (Windows dvd or iso) supports full installation from WinPE rather than only upgrade.If you want to install Windows from source media while booting from WinPE, you must perform a clean installation.If your source media only supports upgrade, you cant clean install from WinPE.If you have verified that your source media is good, I suggest that you copy the entire dvd/iso to the destination disk and run setup from there.Update:Now after reading your your second post, I hope you got it working.@flyby chowNote that the images I have made availabe are the x86 and x64 talking WinPE isos.I have not made Windows To Go available as image because WTG is very large.The difference between WinPE and WTG is that WTG is a complete portable Windows oper ating system whereas WinPE is only a stripped down version of Windows for system recovery and diagnostics tweaked by others to do things not officially endorsed by Microsoft.Now you can actually do a lot of the same things with WTG and WinPE, but the main difference is that WTG is a completely portable OS and that you arent limited by lack of driver and hardware support.The rule of thumb is that if your host system will support a full installation of Windows 8.1, it will also support Windows To Go.Another very big difference from an accessibility standpoint is that building a Windows To Go within built-in NVDA support is damned simple and accessible out of the box without having to tinker with the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit, scripts and half accessible software.So can you boot Windows To Go on a clean system and perform an installation of Windows like you can with the talking installer?I think that the answer is yes but you may have to use some setup command line options. Hi againIt seems I was able to fix one problem, only to run into another... lolI found that the option run as system seems to get passed the internal error while loading com. The only thing now is that NVDA for some odd reason wasnt reading the setup dialogs properly, but I might have made that mistake myself. Re: talking windows pe four 64 bit installation of windows now available. hi there gellman, got some feedback for you. i have a core i7 2600 k CPU, with the intel p67 chipsit. gigabyte motherboard. 12 gigs ramm. now, on this particular pc, when i boot in to the windows recovery invironment, and go to the boot ap. and click on advanced options to restore my system from an image. all goes well. until we get to the final conformation page. there ware it says. all disks wil be formatted to match the current lay out of the image. no problme there. but when i click on finish, windows says. restoring image, this mite take from a few minutes up to a few hours. then? right after that mesage, the following appears. the image restore failed. the error mesage is, the object was not found. close butten. now? when i take this exact same system image to restore to. since this is a windows seven backup and was created with windows image backup? i boot from the windows seven repair disk. and then restore from there? the image restores with out a prob. can this per haps be something i am dooing wrong, when using your boot image? id love to see this work. because your boot image is ausem. its only the fact i cant restore my system images using it, that, is a bit puzzling. since it picks up the image, even shows me ware it is, but when it tries to restore it, then it fails. any help on the matter would be grately appreciated. After pressing ok, you land back at the install now button. I tried to use the ntsetup thing, but there it doesnt seem to detect either my install drive (or I am just expertly messing things up in that app).I still need to try the vhd, but the main question is: could I use it to install anything? I just want to know if this will boot and work with the default sound hardware on the Mac or if I need to use an external soundcard. COuld it be possible that Im not creating the disk properly. Im not even sure if Mac hardware can boot from NTFS since the bootcamp assistant creates fat32 drives with the Windows installer. Would it be possible to create the boot disk directly in OS X rather than using Windows VM?As for the talking PE iteslef, it works great in Vm Fusion. One of my friends reported an error in Win8.1 setup process wile using WinPE, however he installed that version of windows without WinPE and with a sighted help successfully. So, if anyone has any experience in installing Windows 8.1 by this Talking WinPE, please share it here. Hello Gellman,Well, it happened in my friends computer and he didnt give me any more details, however, if you installed it successfully, there shouldnt be any problem and I am now certain that the problem was in his system and not in Talking WinPE.and one more thing, do you know anything about Levtec Winstaller?it is a software that makes Talking Windows installer images that has NVDA and totaly accessible.the intresting thing is that in their latest version, they have added the feature for blind users, to make Live desktop CDS with NVDA, like Talking Windows PE and With your prefered portable applications. unfortunately, their software is very expensive. but I wanna ask that, have you used this software or is there an accessible way to edit or produce Talking WinPE like the version that is here?Here is the link for Levtec site:http://levtec.linkpc.netThanks for your reply.
