Re: federation II inaccessibillity

Oh man, back when I tried fed2, I ended up just writing down the directions.Like from this planet to this planet, I have to go two north, so on and so forth. Then I tried to figure out the relationship between two other planets, and yeah. Pretty insane.I think that's one of the many reasons why I didn't play it. Hope you can figure it out though.I'm more in to role play and crafting stuff myself.

Re: federation II inaccessibillity

Well I did like the idea of  having to change activities to level, though as I said when I read the descriptions of  higher level  stuff they seemed to get much less interesting as time went on, particularly when at later levels your activities basically revolved in fiddling the stock market rather than actually going to places and seeing bits of the universe or doing things with real items you could experience.I don't know, I haven't actually played the game so maybe some  are more interesting in practice than they actually sound?

Re: federation II inaccessibillity

I think it makes it interesting because unlike all these other space games, you do one activity per level and then do another one in the next one. It's not a grind, even if trading and such feels like it.

Re: federation II inaccessibillity

I read their player manual a while ago and there was a section on Vi access and navigation which seemed to have  some pretty comprehensive ways of  finding your way around. I was a little  put off the game when I read that basically your higher level activities don't just involve owning a company, but company  trading in stocks and shares, and you need to do really! heavy business crunching, dealing with share holders,  futures contracts, selling your stock prices in various companies etc, it seemed to get to the point where the game went beyond being a game and basically became a middle management position . I probably  ought to look it over for the db, but ironically it is  was one game where it struck me levelling up made the gameplay less and not more interesting.

Re: federation II inaccessibillity

I also suggest that you read the descriptions in space. This is one mud that I would even suggest using vipmud too. The main thing you do not get access to is having the map draw on your screen. the client that they offer draw the map as you move about so that any who is new to the system can is to some the dgree at the same level you are until they move around a bit. The good news is that the maps pointed out in this topic is useable enough for you to get a good idea on the layout. I basicly would have the map open in one window and the game in another so that I can figure out where something is at from a keypress if I needed to. Should I sit down and do a recording? The trading will drive you nuts unless you are fine with number crunching though.
