Well, I can check for this in two rather precise ways. First, I can
play a silent track through the SB with the volume on everything maxed.
If I don't hear a hum at that level, it's hard to believe it could
affect my listening experience when the volume is much lower

It may also be possible for you to get a demo in London - where are

to the people that make it though.
I'll be in touch
So was there a final resolution on this topic?
Was anything changed in a specific firmware or Slimserver release?

I have transcribed most of my vinyl using 44.1khz sampling at 24 bit

higher is not going to work.
Apparently the SB3 downsamples
I was just reading Wes Phillips' review of the Simaudio Moon Evolution
CD player/DAC (now on the website). It appears Wes is now using the SB3
as his main digital source, and he fed the SPDIF into the Evolution,
which he said improved the sound a ton. What is interesting is that he

I tend to leave the amp at half-volume and use the SB3's volume
control.
As for mismatched levels, I'm not sure I can adjust
Hi,
A happy SB3 owner times three here.
In a recent post on Audio Asylum a link was given to some free
downloads of Classical music in the FLAC format at 96k/24b.
The link is here:

I downloaded and tested these files

What I am confused about is whether the SB3 does any downsampling of
the 96k/24b source?
Yes to 48K. If my source is correct it's done in the Sb3 as you say (as
opposed to on the server), by throwing away every other bit.

One of my SB3s is hooked up to a Benchmark DAC1 which supports 96k/24b.
Is the downsample still applied to the digital output or will my SB3
pass on the full sample to my DAC1?
Thanks.

According to that link it's 48k digital output. There is a way to send

Actually, according to the Benchmark site, it does lots more.
The DAC1 is a two-channel, 24-bit, 192-kHz audio Digital-to-Analog
converter. The DAC1 is perhaps one of the more significant recent
Hi all,
I intend to help a person, who has a Naim 5i integrated and a SB3.
There is a strange hum with the stock SB3 power supply and my thought
was to replace it with a linear PS. He sent me this link while
discussing the topic and browsing it I found that 1A, or 1.5A solutions
