Re: [aur-general] [RFC] Limit the height of AUR comments

2016-03-06 Thread Mark Weiman
that comments are in their own scrollable box if they're too long, it would be a change I'd be for. We've had this problem a few times and usually comments get deleted or a TU copies and pastes the original comment to pastebin (or similar) and modifies the comment to simply link to it. I also just want to mention that there's also a feature that allows anyone to see the reason a pkgbase is out-of-date. The red text that states a pkgbase is out-of-date is now a link that takes you to the reason for the flag and who flagged it. Mark Weiman

Re: [aur-general] Should TUs tolarate inapropiate behavior in the AUR?

2016-02-12 Thread Mark Weiman
it, I say they should be able to without moderation. "AUR packages are user produced content. Any use of the provided files is at your own risk." This is an important statement to consider when using the AUR. If you see a package that violates the packaging standards, file it for deletion and allow a TU to take care of it since that's what they're here for. Mark Weiman

[aur-general] Question About firefox-gtk2-bin

2016-02-01 Thread Mark Weiman
the packaging standards on whether this is something that is acceptable, but I cannot find anything regarding this. I suspect the package firefox-gtk2-bin exists because firefox-gtk2 takes a while to build. My question is if whether packages of this nature are okay for the AUR or if it's not. Mark Weiman

Re: [aur-general] About package description (pkgdesc) size

2016-01-25 Thread Mark Weiman
suggestion, make a brief description like "Scanner driver for EPSON printers" and put the list in a comment and soon when aurweb 4.2.0 is released, there will be a comment pinning system that you can use to pin that comment to the top. This way, you can still list them, but keep the description brief. Mark Weiman signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

The word file is a fine word to use and is used correctly. As a verb, file means to make application (to file a complaint; to file for a job; to file a request).  Since this follows a definition of the word, I see no reason to have it need to be changed. Mark Weiman On Fri, 2015-11-20 at 17:26
