I find emacs + psgml to be very easy to use for docbook editing. I would
never willingly write html if I could use docbook.
Norman Walsh's xsl docbook stylesheets provide an easy to customize way of
making your online doc version look nice while providing also plain
versions for printing. The J
+1 to keep them HTML.
Before we 'change' this, we need an accessible alternative (i.e. open-source) for format & editing. Also, I'm sure a number of us would appreciate the opportunity to take a close look at that alternative before making a different decision.
Keep it simple. HTML.

I've just been looking through the docs a bit. Prior to release 1.0,
