I am not sure what this was used for as it is a basic pickling, but it is
not vinha dalhos. Vinha dalhos literally translates to garlic wine and has
a heavy concentration of freshly chopped garlic so I think that may be what
is in the mix. In our house it would be the ingredients you have

I suspect we are connected by Manuel Silva. He may be my
ggrandmothers(Jennie Solomon Silva's) brother or father. My family
came to Rhode Island and with the exception of a couple all came to
the Northern Bay area.
Do you have any information on his siblings? Birth Date etc?
My four grandparents were all from Sao Miquel, and while I have been able
to find some information about the ones on my mom's side, I have had less
success on the other side which ironically has more living relatives in it.
Anyway, here goes,
My mother was names Alzira Margarida Machado and
Hello
I remember going to my aunts and eating this pickled fish! They were on my dads
side of the family and came to America from Hawaii. They were originally
Azorean. Brings back good childhood memories. Thanks for sharing Denise Nelson

Hello there,
My name is Marcelo and I am researching my family roots in Azores. My
grandmother, just before she died, told me that her great grandfather name
was João do Rego de Viveiros, from Ilhéus, Azores. As I am quite new on
this, I would like to know if anyone could tell me where I can
Marcelo,
I think you are in Europe. You are going to have to research this
Portuguese ancestor by using the sources of the country he lived in to turn
up the island (there are 9) and then the freguesia (village) that he
belonged to. From there, you can use Azorean records to do you search.
Thank you for this information. I will research the dates a bit--I am pretty
sure that the grandparents on my fathers side were 1875 and 1879, and on my
mother's 1890 and 1892. All of them are buried nearby, so I will visit the
gravesights to try to narrow this down.
I appreciate you writing
Thank you Cheri Mello,
I am originally from Brazil but I live in England for 20 years now. I think
I should have given all the details I have. I was able to trace João do Rego
de Viveiros to São Miguel Island. I found this information on the passengers
list that arrived in Brazil in 1834. On
FSouza,
Is this your family on the 1910 Fall River, Ward 7, Bristol Co. MA census
Surname is misspelled to MICHAELEAN

8 children born, 6
Hi Marcelo,
That's a first for me. A street and no freguesia. There are about 70
freguesias on Sao Miguel. Maybe someone on this list has heard of your
street.
Once you get your freguesia, some of them are online at the Centro de
Conhecimento dos Acores (CCA) web site and some records you
lots of those names are accurate, but I think the birthdates may be too young.
I will take this to the cemetery to see if I find birthdates for Mary and John
Thank you

IF that's the only Rua de Sabao in all of Sao Miguel, then he has to search
about 4 churches, I think.

Manuel de Sousa Miquelina 58, (if in US before - yes 1897), Jacintha de
Sousa 39, Marianna 24, Marianna 20 (yes 2 named Marianna) . They are going
to their son Manuel
Thank you Rick ! Thank you Cheri Mello !
I will start searching on Ponta Delgada churches. As the passengers list
record says that Joao was 24 years old, it means he was born in 1810.
Kind Regards,
Marcelo
