Are you in the Bay Area? If so, you might want to check with the Cal State
East Bay (Hayward State) Historical Archives. They have a bound collection
of Alameda County Voter Affidavits which would cover that area of time.
Kind of interesting because you see how they were registered,

My great grandfather on Faial was Joao Furtado da Silveira, from the
village Cedros. His wife was Ana Luisa da Silva. :)

My family names are too confusing to get into. Suffice it to say, they
underwent many (6+) name changes while on the island. As you may have
discovered while searching, names are not permanent in the Azorean culture.

Another helpful tip would be to try to trace any other close relatives of
his. For example, if the majority of relatives are from Tiverton, then
you've likely. got your man. :)

I have absolutely no idea what village she's from, my GGgrandfather was
born aprox 1867 because his death cert says he was 90 at his death in july
of 1957, so maybe his parents born 1849 or earlier?
