I do not believe the Family search site will charge.
I just learned that pretty soon the new.familysearch.org will go public. You
will see family trees entered by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints worldwide. I don't know for sure if it has been released
From what I understand, only those at the FHC (Family History Centers) have
been able to access the newer site (probably as beta testers).
