OK, let me think about this when I'm fresh in the morning. Maybe it will be
better if I do a Word.doc with screen shot captures for you guys to follow.
And I may not be clear either. I just learned how to do this myself, so
I'll need to adjust my explanation until I mostly get it right.

I had the same sort of problem as Elaine.
The family tree is unusable with my iPad so I was using my desktop
computer. When I dragged, the person was left floating there, unattached to
anyone. I could figure out what to do with it.
I had other problems, too. I need to update my tree so I will

I found that when you have a relative with a broken link (what looks like a
broken paper clip) if you click the the "paper clip" to re-establish the
link this will take care of the drag and drop. This may not remove your
relative(s) immediately from the DNA match list. To update, all I did was
hi Cheri,
I tried following Method 1 and obviously missed something. I tried
dragging someone over to my tree and it put that person in the place of the
common ancestor. I had to re-upload my tree to fix that. Not sure what
I'm doing wrong, perhaps with the drag? But whatever I tried

We like to use DNA testing to confirm our paper trail and find new cousins.
We like to help others too. It's a great tool.
So much has happened since this post.
It turns out that this lady is my paternal grandmother's sister, so that makes
her my grand aunt, and she married my first cousin 3x removed.
Once I was able to confirm this, it's been branching out nicely.

NOTE:
After dragging the match over to your tree and saying "Self" you will click
the Confirm or OK button. I think it's on the left. I can't see mine, as
it's below my task bar. I'd have to make the screen smaller (and thus
unreadable) in order to see those dang buttons.

Listowner,
Sorry about that. I got into explaining the screen shot and then didn't
tell anyone how to make it work.
Method 1:
1) Upload your Gedcom back about 10 generations. Include everybody for
those 10 generations (or whatever you have. Something is better than
nothing).
2) After the Gedcom is uploaded,
I can't see any paternal/maternal/both matches on mine. Is it not live yet?

You will find the vast majority of such records in either Vila Franca - Sao
Miguel or Ponta Garca, because Ribeira das Tainhas was on the border
between the two villages.

I know that Carmen. I've done a lot of research in Ribeira das Tainhas. As
I worked my way back in time, the record that I found in Ribeira das
Tainhas told me that the person I was after was from Ribeira Quente. So
that's where I went. However, I answered your question the first time.
Cheri
Depends on what the record says. Many are Sao Miguel Arcanjo church.
