Ok I think I figured out the error I made and confirmed my suspicions. The
name Jose* Arnauldo* do Amaral, an unusual name to be sure. Sometimes
written as Arnaudo, Arnaldo. I have some of this line. Will contact you

Looks like you have it right. I would confirm by finding a sibling. Manuel is
probably the first child ... look nine months out ... find a sibling. The
fathers middle name may be a little clearer.
Anyone else familiar with this priests particular shorthand?
