I will cease and desist. (I had not started yet anyway.) Cheri is right.
Most of all I would not want to jeopardize access to the records for
personal use. It's so wonderfull to have them.

You guys need to STOP. It's not that I'm trying to rain your parade, but

First, whenever the CCA was approached about helping to index, we were
always turned down. ALWAYS. They don't say why. Just a no thank you. I've
thought about it. And I made up the following reasons why we

Jeremy,
Any guidelines?
Leave out the de, da, do, etc?
Use the most current spelling of the name (i.e. Joaquim vs Joachim)?
Place spaces between the date (12 Sep 1899 vs. 12Sep1899).
You rock!

Right. You would have to copy it into another google sheet, or just use the

I'll start Ribeira Seca ... 1911 and work downward.
Would you be willing to post a blank sheet for volunteers to start "their"

You know, I just had a great idea. Why don't we (the group) do this?!

each)? I would be willing to help with either Norte Pequeno or Calheta or

Anyone heard of NS da Guadalupe do Pico? And if so, what freguesia would
that be in. Perhaps an ermida on Pico? Certainly can't find it listed on

You'll want to use the modern spelling of "Faial."
You probably won't find much in the U.S. on a man who lived there from 1900
to 1908-1909. You might find him in city directories, listed on his
children's baptisms, or in court records if he wound up in court. It's
probably too short of a time
Olivia,
The whole reason I'm against people stating the relationship of their
ancestors is: 1) That's your special name for her. Only a select group of
people get to call her grandma (or the select group that get to call dad
"dad" or mom "mom."). 2) Also, that's strictly the relationship to you.
Born in Praia do Norte , Fayal in 1873. He married Maria Filomena Cabral in
Providence RI on April 18, 1900. I found his passport application from 1896
that stated he was coming to NY but have found nothing after that. His children
were born in Cranston RI but they are not listed on any census.
All thanks to you, Louie! I would never have thought to look for them in
Terceira. I was getting ready to check out all of the villages on Sao

My Grandmother always told me that her Parents were from Portal, Sao Jorge
... it was so sparsely populated that sometimes they had a baptism in
Calheta, sometimes Ribeira Seca, Norte Pequeno, Norte Grande ... Makes it
so hard but very rewarding when it comes through!
