Annette, did he become a citizen? Those records, if he applied, may have
more info. It just depends on what the government asked. In the US if it
was prior to 1906 it probably would only give the island in the Azores,
after 1906 more information was asked for and you have a better chance of
finding
Did he baptize his kids Catholic? Did he happen to tell the church at that
time where he was from?

parishes without knowing which parish your ancestor came from. Araujos are
all over Sao Miguel.

ancestor in Australia around 1850. Are there censuses, natur
