Sean, there may be records of the dispensation but you would have to have a
researcher there do the searching for now. We are working on having the
dispensations of Sao Jorge copied and put online but it's taking a long
time!

the month spelled out (or at least abbreviated). 1/8/1874 would be 1 Aug
1874 (preferred format for genealogists and the rest of the world). I think
only Americans use it as Jan 8, 1874.
