A person does not need real compliant license to board an aircraft if they have
a passport or they have global entry.

The new rule for CA driver ID has been moved to 2020. You can get it now and
should especially if you are renewing your license as my husband has done and
it is a pain to get. You have to bring your birth certificate (no copy), social
security card, and proof of where you live... they
