Been researching these people as well, as they're in my tree. (Slowly)
working on indexing all the baptisms in this first book. I think Pedro
Machado Evangelho is also the son of Manuel Machado Evangelho and Ana
Rodrigues as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the clarification. It looks like I have the same info as Shirley as
I looked up the cca records myself.
And don’t worry about me relying on other trees, Cheri - I’ve been going
through cca records for everything, it’s just slow-going.

I descend from Antonio’s elder brother, Francisco Garcia da Rosa (b 1823). I’d
have to check my number of children for Prudenciana, but I’m probably missing a
couple. I need to cross-reference another tree that has more entries.
Is your husband John0202 on ancestry? His tree is the one I’ve
That matches my records, Shirley

So, I've hit a bit of a snag. An ancestor of mine, Prudenciana Narcisa (do
Coração de Jesus), was born - according to her obit, marriage, and
children's baptisms to be from Santo Antonio. The problem is, her obit
lists her age as 80 in her obit in 1865, and the baptisms in Santo Antonio

Heh, I did suggest to my mom to fill out the form for her grandpa's death
cert (same person), so I guess I was on the right track there. And I
totally agree with the surname choice, I just wasn't sure if it was
anomalous. He stated on his WWI card that he was from Pico, so I was

Hi Cheri,
I'm sorry if my post was confusing. My g-grandfather is Manuel Souza
Garcia. I recently got access to his own marriage certificate (in
California) listing his parents as Manuel Souza and Isabelle Garcia.
Considering that women generally didn't have last names at the time my
Would the Garcia name have come from her family even though it was later
adopted? I'm trying to see if I can confirm the only couple I found with a
Manuel born around the right time, and that's my only real hangup right

Adding onto my previous reply, would the surname Garcia have been added to
Manuel at a later time like his mother? It could explain why the index
doesn't show him with it.
Index in question:

Hi,
So, I know many people here have developed their own databases from
researching documents and wanted to know if anyone could search their own
database for this family:
Manuel Souza + Isabelle Garcia (parents)
Manuel Souza Garcia (child)
The son was born on Pico, and I'm assuming the same
Quick question: does anyone have access to findmypast?
I've found a marriage record that *could *be what I'm looking for, but I
can't even see a preview of what the record is without paying for access.
Is it okay to ask if someone can look for me and confirm its contents? All

Hi, been working on writing down all the entries for an ancestor I found on
a passport list, but the writing is so small and the image not quite good
enough to make out the script in places. I have some of it figured out, but
would like help from veterans of this stuff, if possible. I'll
