Hi Theresa,
My great grandfather was Anibal Couto Bento from Sao Miguel, born 1889
to Jose Bento and Maria G. de Ponte. I only know his parent's names
by his death record in Cambridge, MA. I also found a ship record
entering the US that his mother came to visit(?) in 1916 with his
sister
Cheri,
I am wondering where I would go to research and order these films I
am hearing about? I am so surprised they allow films to be sent to
people.
Sincerely, David

Terri,
Very little for the Azores is on the Internet. Actually,
” and Anibal’s sister: “Ermalinda b. 1900” visiting him in
USA in 1916.
Joseph Bento may have deid before 1916 since he didn’t make the trip,
just speculation.
Maybe you might recognize a connection?
Sincerely,
David Ellis

Hi Cheri,
Well, I found a couple records pertaining to my family in the
passport part of the website. It was hard to find as you have to
click and scan each page. As you know, nothing is transcribed so you
cannot do a search on some ones nameHowever, www.ancestry.com does
have records
I wanted to correct myself and say that it was a period of 4 weeks
between Passport registration and the time the family arrived in the
USA. Feb 18 - March 15. If you back trace 4 weeks from their arrival
date that should help you find them in the passport database

Thanks Cindy,
I have been playing around with the CCA site on my spare time. There
is a great Madeira website that has been very helpful for my mothers
Paternal side but her maternal Azore side of the family has been a
challenge. I will keep chipping away!

I was also unaware that you could order film at a local family
center. I thought you had to be physically present to view film. I
will definitely look into that. What kind of information would I have
access too?
