1975?? Is that a typo for 1875? I was told my immigrants married in Providence, too. One was counted in at Ellis Island and the other came through Boston. They married in New Bedford. Therefore, assumptions are dangerous things. Assume nothing. Are you finding your ancestors on the 1880 in RI?

If somehow, the 3 were smuggled onboard, then there would be no record of them leaving the Azores. However, many times family stories are just that - stories - so it wouldn't hurt to check to see if they were outbound from the Azores. Only 2 ports still have their passaportes records in existence
