Hello,
In case anyone is interested, here are a few records pertaining to Maria da
Costa and her family.
Here is Francisco Correia Ribeiro's (Maria's dad) first marriage to Maria
Veiria, in Achada, top record
The marriage is dated on 7-Mar-1731 between Andre Pavao, son of Amaro da
Costa and Francisca(or Fernanda) de Mello, and, Maria Viveiros, widow of
Pedro da Costa Rodovalho, who was buried in this church of Santo Antonio.
If you don't already have this, you may also be interested to know that
Bennett Greenspan, founder and CEO of Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) gave a speech
at the genealogy conference this past weekend. He spoke about the future
of genetic genealogy.
His lecture was recorded and can be viewed for free here:

It is a 1 hour lecture.

23 and Me was founded by someone who had a genetic inheritable disease.
FTDNA was founded by a genealogy nut who had a problem that only DNA could
answer. That's what the F and T stand for: Family Tree.

Cheri,
You have probably told us this a million times, but, if my husband already did
a Y-DNA does he have to do an actual test again for the Family Finder or will
they use the previous sample??
Getting more confused as I get older or as my spouse likes to put it…what did I

Elaine,
In 98% or so, they can use the same sample. Even when there's a problem,
technology has been improving so much that they are getting better and
better and being able to get what they need out of the sample.

Sorry to tell you this now but you would have been better off not trying to

Hire a taxi. Some list members may know of some good ones that deal with
genealogists. Or you can go to the praça de taxis and ask for a bilingual
driver and explain to him what you want. I've asked them what they make in
1 day and then ask to hire them for the day at that rate.
