I believe you have everything correct.. I also think you have all of
Barbara Florinda's name because I believe the next words are Forão
padrinhos... (godparents were...). As for the dates, baptism is as you
said, 9 Aug 1868; birth is certainly October 1867. I think I see the word
primeiro
As a new member I wanted to post my maternal family surnames that I am
researching as an introduction. I do not have any specific calls for

I have a ggrandfather, Jose Pereira, born in 1836 and he had a brother Antonio
born in 1827oddly mine left the island in 1853 on a whaling ship and also
oddly, he married in 1866! Interesting coincidences! Mine stayed in New Bedford
after immigrating.

I think this record is my great grandfather. The only US record I have found
that I know with certainty is him is his death record (1912) which lists his
parents as "John Silveira" and "Marianna Florinda" and gives his birth as
"1870" "Azores". What I can get from this record is that he was
