[AZORES-Genealogy] translation

2016-09-29 Thread Mike
I'm not very good at finding anything but I'm pretty sure this is my
GGGgrandfather's obituary Jose Leal da Rosa It should say Jan 16, 1899

The first link it's on the bottom of page then next page it carries to the
top of next page. I'm really hoping after all this time I found one on my
own.
Thank You so much Mike

Mike,

You have the name and date correct. (I double checked what I read here against
CITCEM.) Is the date what you were questioning ?

I noticed that, according to CITCEM, Jose died 3 days shy of his 93rd birthday.
That was a long life in the 1890s.

Hi "E"

How interesting! can you post a link to the record?

As India was a British colony, it's very possible that someone with an
English surname could have been born there and ended up in the Azores.
Goa, now part of the India, was originally a Portuguese colony. And,
Bombay (now Mumbai) is about 400 miles from Goa.

I'd really like to see the record, if possible. Thanks!

Thank you, Rick, for the info.

I was just back your way a couple of weeks ago and the weather was
beautiful!! Also loved your Beach Plum restaurant and their huge rum
raisin ice cream cones (my favorite - which I had twice)!! Also, some
other pizza restaurant in the area that had the hugest prime rib I had ever
seen in my life! No I did not eat one of those.
