Hi Marylin,
Yes, I had an FF kit on batch 575 that they posted the matches about a week
ago. Your kit should be coming up very soon, unless they needed to send you
a new sample kit.

Hi Cheri,
Most likely, they did baptize him, but the priest lost the record (or
something), and when they had to find it again, it was nowhere to be found.
It's easy to solve that by re-baptizing him.

Suzanne,
The banns are read on the parish where the bride or the groom is from. The
priest usually writes who is from where. Most of the time the marriages
took place at the brides village, but there are times the marriage happens
on the grooms village. I have seen that before on some records

Here's the baptism of my ancestor, 20 years after his birth:

I did this work years ago. Now that I look at it again, it appears to say
that he was baptized in 1825. I don't think it's saying anything out of

I just spoke with FTDNA, concerning their email that they were sending me a
new vial for collection. I had already sent that back on 6 July, so was
concerned.
I was told batch 575 may be 4-6 weeks off, but had a priority placed on it
that may speed it up.

Part of batch 575 came in last week.
I know that the customer service rep I talked to this morning was new, as I
have never spoken with her before.
But since they had to send you new vials, yours may be fast tracked.
As far as I can tell from the admin pages, Family Finder and mtDNA is
behind.

Cheri,
If I may point out this is not a birth record, it is a documented account
of a birth record that went missing and here logged and witnessed:
It does state he was *born* and *baptized* in 1825 by the then Rev. Cura

After I looked it over this morning, I was thinking something like that may
have been happening. Glad to know. And that they were conserving paper in
1825 and sticking random baptisms wherever they could find room because who
would be looking almost 200 years later?? LOL

Hi,
I have a record from Flamengos that I found accidentally. My great-grandfather
Luis Goncalves da Silva was born in 1860 according to his gravestone, but I
could not find any baptism record at all. One day I was looking for someone
else and found a note at the bottom of a page among
Well, I'm voting that the priest had too much vinho and forgot to record
it! ;)
