I don't know where this Faria family is from.  It is one of the things I am 
hoping to figure out.  What I do know is that Mrs. A.F. Faria's sister, Maria 
Luisa, married Manuel Francisco Martins de Azevedo (my great uncle), who was 
born in Feteira, Fayal.

By any chance, are your Faria family members related to an A. F. (Antone) Faria 
family in San Leandro?   The San Leandro Faria family lived on Washington 
Avenue.  I am trying to connect A.F. Faria's wife to my family tree.  I only 
know her as Mrs. A.F. Faria, but do know she was the daughter of Joaquim 
Silveira and his wife, Maria Luisa.  The Silveira family lived in Rhode Island 
before coming to Alameda County, CA.

Some Flores people show Sao Miguel ancestry, but it's a ways back.

Once I can get some of you to do the parental matching, the FTDNA system
will start to create lists for your paternal and maternal sides. You'll
need to have your collateral lines from your Gedcom uploaded to FTDNA for
it to work.

Then you need to link your matches into your tree. Right now, it can do
parental matching if you have a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, or
2 great who has tested (not many of us have those). It can also do parental
matching if you had an aunt/uncle or grand-aunt/uncle or great-aunt/uncle
test. Again, many of us don't have those either. However, it can do
parental matching if you have a 1st cousin, 1st cousin 1 removed, 1st
cousin 2 removed, 2nd cousin, 2nd cousin 1 removed, or a 3rd cousin test.

I've been working on a few trees who have the Ribeira Quente cluster. I'm
getting a better understanding of how it works. I'm thinking of making a
video and uploading it to YouTube so you guys can see it. I've figured out
how to turn on the microphone and make an mp4 file. Now I have to figure
out if mp4 files are acceptable for YouTube and how to upload a video
(never done that before).

Unfortunately those records were lost. My father was born in Lomba but my
paternal grandfather was born in Lajes and I was able to trace his line
back to the mid 1600's. However, I have only been able to trace my paternal
grandmother's line back to the early 1800's.
Flores researchers are a disadvantage because, as the story goes, in the
mid 1600's pirates or privateers invaded the island and burned every church
on the island. I have not been able to trace any of my lines off the
island. Maybe someday DNA may allow us to make that leap.

By any chance, are your Faria family members related to an A. F. (Antone) Faria 
family in San Leandro?   The San Leandro Faria family lived on Washington 
Avenue.  I am trying to connect A.F. Faria's wife to my family tree.  I only 
know her as Mrs. A.F. Faria, but do know she was the daughter of Joaquim 
Silveira and his wife, Maria Luisa.  The Silveira family lived in Rhode Island 
before coming to Alameda County, CA.
