Or a nickname. Maybe he had a personality similar to that of a police
officer. A very by-the-book, rule-oriented type of guy.

Thanks to everyone who is trying to figure out this little word.
It's got to be either an occupation or a name. Hope someone knows.

October. He wrote 8obro. The 8 almost looks like an H. Should be 8bro. It
has nothing to do with the way we write months with all numbers. It has to
do with the Latin prefixes. Like an octopus has 8 arms because of the
"oct." So Octobro is 8bro. 8 for Oct.

No, it's definitely not Policena. Looks like Polica. It's 6 letters and
does NOT appear abbreviated. Maybe a native speaker will answer soon.

in the Azores .

To me, it looks like it says "Polica" after his name. Someone else is going
to have to take a look. Nothing is raised as in an abbreviation.
The maternal mother (all mothers are maternal) is Rosa Maria. Oh wait,
maternal GRANDMOTHER is Francisca da Conceicao.
Hope this helps. Cheri

Hello Listers,
After the father's name, Joao Silveira, there is a P di C(?). Would that be an
abbreviation for another name?. Does someone know what that is, please?
Also, can you confirm that the maternal mother's second name is Conceicao(?),
please. That name appears several times in
Sandra,
It's a batism book.
