I can hardly believe it. The birth date is close to what I had thought. What little I have shows his birthdate as 1857, 1858, and 1860, but 1848 is so close. The other exciting thing is that family lore has him as a whaler. THANK YOU! I'll follow up on this. Would you mind posting the website?

Hi Dano--All great questions. I wish I had great answers. He did live in Boston and was a cabinetmaker. I found a marriage certificate, but the only information that gave me was that he was born on St. Jorge, the Western Islands. I'll keep at it. I'm determined! Thanks for all your advice. On
