Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Great-uncle Francisco Silva

2016-09-17 Thread Paul
Hi Theresa,

I'll take any help you can provide. My email address is
pagome...@comcast.net.

As for the strange way I have the surname listed, my 3 great grandfather
Bernardino Jose de Andrade b: 1819 moved to Sao Miguel from Santa Maria
sometime prior to his first marriage in 1841 to Escolatica Maria do
Espirito Santo (it is along her line that the Silva surname appears). This
marriage produced 3 children. Their first child Francisco Bernardo (2 great
grandfather) used the surname of de Andrade until his children were born
when he adopted the Silva surname. Hence the da Silva/de Andrade surname.
It just so happens that his wife Anna de Mello adopted the surname de
Medeiros (her paternal great grandmother's surname) when she married
Francisco.

Thanks,
Paul G.

Hi Paul, I have some really early Andrade Silva’s 1747 in Santa Maria. I found
it interesting when you posted because Andrade Silva is unusual. Silva is not
a Santa Maria name usually. I can share them with you if you think it might
be a clue.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Great-uncle Francisco Silva

2016-09-16 Thread Paul
My apologies Cheri if my post offended you or anyone else, that was not my
intent. Francisco is/was the missing sibling of my grandmother Gloria. I
would research him get frustrated, then move onto another person or branch.
After taking a long break I would start the process all over again. I will
take advantage of Cheri's "spidey" sense since she know about genealogy
than I. I access the CCA via the Tombo.pt site. It seems to be quicker than
going directly to CCA. Thanks Cheri, JR and Aaron for your help.

Paul,

Read this article regarding the Suveric...it was noted that some of the
passengers did not have a passport. It may explain why your ancestors are
not on the Ponta Delgada passport manifest.. Top, right hand side of page
