Hi,
It would be great if the BackupPC Admin interface gave the ability to
create a template and then when you create a new host, simply apply that
template.
Lets say you have 50+ pc's to backup, 20 Vista (heaven forbid! ;} )and
30 XP. lets say we are using rsyncd to backup and we want just

That's pretty much already there if you use an existing host as your

the NEWHOST=COPYHOST syntax to pick up the per-pc configs from a

thanks, that worked.

Part of this feature is already available. When you create a host

problem solved. i had to add 127.0.0.1 to the interfaces list of smb.conf.
this is because i had set bind interfaces only = yes.
the manpage makes mention of smbpasswd not working properly if bind
interfaces only is set and the network address 127.0.0.1 is not added to the
interfaces parameter.

I get the error below with large files, this one is around 2GB, files around
500MB transfer and restore with no problem. What can be causing this? I am

I think you mean that 2 GB is the limit for FAT16. Windows 95a was the last
FAT16 operating system released by Microsoft.

Hi,
I've been running backupPC on one server for about a month and half.
Everything has been working great so far and I have 2396.72GB worth of full
backups. But 3 days ago I noticed that the simultaneous backups for three
servers were taking very long to complete. In the BackupPC status page it

Hello,
I've renamed my localhost to fileserver.
Thats mean I renamed the directory backuppc/pc/localhost
to backuppc/pc/fileserver and renamed the entry in /etc/backuppc/hosts
too.
Of course I import the new host key for fileserver for user backuppc.
Unfortunately I get erros in every backup
Sorr I missed information. I am restoring to RHEL4 box. I can transfer 500MB
files no problem, but once I try 2GB or more it fails with a PIPE error. I
have been able to transfer a 2GB file maybe twice out of the 20 times I've
tried. Any ideas?
Not directly related to the original post but

Hi Les,
Thanks for your reply
Bingo. That's it. I would have hoped for a more specific
error-Message, though.
Maybe it would be advisable to make Backuppc check, if the disc is
full in case of a child exited prematurely error and let BackupPc
display a message child exited
