Guys: Can the apache user remain as apache or should I follow Gotham's instructions to make the apache user be 'backuppc'? Also in that case would I add 'apache' as the additional group for the user 'backuppc'? I'm far from done, as you can imagine, I'm just hacking away at the details!

Guys I installed backuppc into my Fedora 26 using, simply "dnf install BackupPC" I found that the main files have been placed in /etc/BackupPC/ So I started working my way through editing config.pl (after making a backup, of course). At some point I learned that it is not a good idea to change

If you are trying to install BackupPC on your newly upgraded Fedora 26 box there's no need for any additional repositories. A simple "dnf install BackupPC" will work (as root or with sudo on the front of the command) In either case, the two RPMs you are installing are source RPMS, meaning it's
