Interesting idea, but that would presumably have the effect of
blocking all emails whereas I would like to just block this one.

partially-configured, I handled it by (temporarily) blanking out the
"user" for that host, so there was no address for the mail to be sent
to. Worked fine, and then I re-set "user" once the host was
successfully running backups.

I have some hosts setup that for now have no backups -- and I am OK
with that.
Is there any way (on a per-host) basis to prevent the "no backup ever"
message from being sent.
Note, for the other messages, one can prevent them by just setting the
notify period to be very long, but I don't see how
