Just do:
apt-get install bacula-director-mysql bacula-fd bacula-sd bacula-console
That will install the base without the GUI that requires KDE. This works on
Debian, I would guess that it works on Ubuntu as well.

Incidentally, what version of Bacula is that? As I
I would be interested in something like this for off-site back-up. Each
month, do a full back-up to tapes that will stay in the library and a
set that will be taken off-site for DR.

Also, I tried to look up the client timeout option, but I can't seem to find
it in the documentation.

Bacula is moving data from remote machines to disk then to tape, it will try
to keep as much of that in memory if no other process needs it. In almost a
month of running Bacula with no reboots, there is no sign of a memory leak.

The Bacula system tray icon does not show up in Windows when doing Remote
Desktop. Is there a way to get the icon to show up during Remote Desktop
sessions? We are running Bacula 2.0.3 from Sourceforge.

We have bacula running on about 20 w2k3 servers, not a single problem.
The spool to a Debian Etch machine that is the sd, a lot of them go
through a firewall. I am using 2.0.3 on Windows and 2.0.0 on Debian.

Try using sudo and only give the bacula user the exact command in the
sudoers file for ncpmount and umnount for those directories.

rather just deal directly with the director/database.
