Kern, Many thanks for pointing to the Volume Poll Interval storage option. Since I am on Linux 2.6 the Offline on Unmount (and the assoc Close on Poll) didn't work (left the device blocked), but keeping the device open and polling for a new tape did the trick. Thanks, Florian On 2/21/06, Kern
