 Hi Simone.

 The way I see it, you put 0.0.0.0 on the listening IP of the daemons
 that would be receiving connections from more than one network and it
 will listen on both interfaces. If the _name_ and password of the
 other end matches, they will comunicate.

 I have mine set this way (and it's confirmed working), and I have a
 client in a different network (dir and sd on the same machine):

 In bacula-dir.conf:

 Director {
   ...
   DirAddress = 0.0.0.0
   DirPort = 9101
   ...
 }

 In bacula-sd.conf

 Storage {
   ...
   SDAddress = 0.0.0.0
   SDPort = 9103
   ...
 }

 In bacula-fd.conf:

 FileDaemon {
   ...
   FDAddress = 0.0.0.0
   FDport = 9102
   ...
 }

 These are the addresses that they will listen on, not to be confused
 with the addresses where to connect to indicated in the other daemons.

 Andre

Hello Olle,

I think there's a slight misunderstanding in your concept of fileset
changes. According to the docs, fileset changes affect the definition
of filesets in the director config file as opposed to *actual* changes
in the filesystem's you're backing up.

If you're talking about removeable drives and such that are mounted
somewhere in the directory, tree, I guess you should be looking at
bacula crossing fs boundaries during backups (or not ;-)

All the best, Uwe

[Bacula-users] Can't restore file spanning across multiple volumes

2011-08-09 Thread Bartosz Cisek
Hi!

I try to restore file from backup, but bacula fails. We backup binlog
files every 15 minutes. There is only one file in each job. All other
files from this day/week can be restored. This one has one difference,
is placed on two Volumes (204 and 255).

I don't konw if this relevant, but our volumes are ordinary files.
Backup was made when in bacula-sd option

Hardware End of File = no

was not set. I added but didn't help. We use bacula 5.0.3. Any ideas
what went wrong?

[Bacula-users] Possible bug in database update code

2011-08-09 Thread Frank Altpeter
Hi there,

It's possible that I just hit a bug with the routines that are
updating the catalog database.

Following prerequisites:

Server OS: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)
Bacula Version: 5.0.3
MySQL Version: 5.0.67
Catalog Database size: 49G

The configuration states to do incremental backup daily except sunday
night where the full backup is running. Full backup is done from
client to disk via vchanger. After all full backups are done, monday
afternoon a copy job is being run which brings the full backups from
vchanger to an LTO-4 tape changer.
Usually this setting is running fine.

Today (tuesday) one of my clients is doing a full backup, where it
should run incremental. Looking in the log it says Prior failed job
found in catalog. Upgrading to Full.. I was wondering about that,
because I know that the incremental backup from yesterday was running
fine.

So I checked the database entries for this client. I've put the output of

select
JobId,PriorJobId,Job,Type,Level,JobStatus,SchedTime,StartTime,EndTime,RealEndTime
from Job where Name like 'host.customer.com%' order by JobId;

into http://pastebin.com/4CVHzqaD for review.

The interesting line are the ones with JobId 113187 and 112500. I
don't know why these two jobs have identical values for StartTime and
EndTime. I think that some catalog update routine was going wrong here
because it was confused by the running copy job. I see that database
entry as reason that the incremental job of today thinks that the last
job failed.

I'm not good at compiler code debugging, but if there's more data
needed to find and eliminate this bug, let me know.

Yes, I know what you mean, but I think you misread the original post -- it was
about the director config file, so is not related to which IP the storage
daemon would listen on.

The Storage { Address = } option in the director config tells the client how
to contact the storage daemon.

[Bacula-users] API to Communicate with Bacula from a client portal?

2011-08-09 Thread Yazan
Hey guys,

We have been using Bacula for some time now and I wanted to automate a few
things and allow the clients to take control of their backups. We want to give
our clients the option of buying backup space and creating/editing backup
schedules of their data and their databases. We're hoping to automate this as
well as allow the clients to have access to their backup files with the option
of restoring a file (or multiple) all via our PHP based portal.

Please let me know if anybody has worked with this in the past and if they are
willing to help. We can work out compensation as well if you have a solution.

I would really appreciate your help and feedback on this matter. Thank you!

Re: [Bacula-users] Bscan problem

2011-08-09 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi Konstantin,

First of all, thanks for your reply.
I've read the post you mention and is not related. I'm trying to recover
a job that is in one tape and the problem is that I get the job rescaned
into the database but with errors.
Reading other posts with problems with bscan I've set all retentions
times (pool, volume and client) to 10 years and disable autoprune and
after that, I no longer get a new job, not even terminated with errors.

 bscan -m -v -c /etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf -V Peliculas0001 /dev/nst0
bscan: butil.c:281 Using device: /dev/nst0 for reading.
09-ago 11:02 bscan JobId 0: Ready to read from volume Peliculas0001 on

bscan: bscan.c:464 Pool type Backup is OK.
bscan: bscan.c:474 Media record for Peliculas0001 found in DB.
bscan: bscan.c:492 Media type LTO-5 is OK.
bscan: bscan.c:502 VOL_LABEL: OK for Volume: Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:526 SOS_LABEL: Job record not found for JobId: 0
09-ago 12:05 bscan JobId 0: End of Volume at file 39 on device
LTO-5 (/dev/nst0), Volume Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=0
bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=59
bscan: bscan.c:342 Create JobMedia for Job
PeliculasJOB.2011-06-17_11.59.05_26
bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001
09-ago 12:05 bscan JobId 0: End of all volumes.
bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:637 End of all Volumes. VolFiles=39 VolBlocks=0
VolBytes=385,741,503,109
Records would have been added or updated in the catalog:
  1 Media
  1 Pool
  1 Job
 22 File

Is like bacula is trying to create job 0 to place the records of the pruned job
59 and is actually not adding it to the database.
Before changing the retention times and disabling autoprune, bscan created an
new job (with first available job id) and after a
 succesfull run, the job was indicated in the database as with errors.

Re: [Bacula-users] please mount volume or label a new one

2011-08-09 Thread Jeff Shanholtz
I knew my problem was state related. I figured it out! I had killed a job
while testing some changes and it left a phantom, unused volume in the
catalog (I had deleted the file since I killed the job).

This is what I found when I did a list media on this client's pool:

| MediaId | VolumeName| VolStatus | Enabled |
VolBytes  | VolFiles | VolRetention | Recycle | Slot | InChanger | MediaType
| LastWritten |
+-+---+---+-+---
--+--+--+-+--+---+---+--
---+
| 3254| client | Append| 1   | 181
| 0| 31536000 | 0   | 0| 0 | File  | 0

Deleted the volume from the catalog and I just ran a backup successfully
without any intervention. :)

 I have always kept Maximum Volume Jobs at 1 for this and all other

 Do you have a limit on the # of volumes in the pool?

Not to my knowledge. Here's the relevant info from my conf files.

Re: [Bacula-users] please mount volume or label a new one

 I knew my problem was state related. I figured it out! I had killed a job
 while testing some changes and it left a phantom, unused volume in the
 catalog (I had deleted the file since I killed the job).

 This is what I found when I did a list media on this client's pool:

 | MediaId | VolumeName                        | VolStatus | Enabled |
 VolBytes  | VolFiles | VolRetention | Recycle | Slot | InChanger | MediaType
 | LastWritten         |
 +-+---+---+-+---
 --+--+--+-+--+---+---+--
 ---+
 | 3254    | client                             | Append    | 1       | 181
 | 0        | 31536000     | 0       | 0    | 0         | File      | 0

 Deleted the volume from the catalog and I just ran a backup successfully
 without any intervention. :)

Thanks for reporting back. I will try to remember this post next time
the same problem hits the mailing list..

[Bacula-users] Exchange Plugin Restore

2011-08-09 Thread Duncan McQueen
Has anyone gotten these errors:

2011-08-09 14:06:02 svr-fd JobId 575: Error:
/tmp/bacula/bacula/src/findlib/mkpath.c:49 Cannot create directory

/tmp/bacula/bacula/src/findlib/mkpath.c:49 Cannot create directory
/@EXCHANGE/Microsoft Information Store/First Storage Group/C:: ERR=Invalid
argument

When trying to restore Exchange from the Plugin? This is Exchange 2003. Is
there a way around these, or is the backup effectively broken?

There is a problem with restoring from incremental backups, but your
problem looks different and I haven't seen it before. Can you send me
the output of 'list files' from the backup job?
