pings are also not a good indication. ICMP is often dropped somewhere
along the line ...

much requires you to use their network scripts to start pppd, if you
dont the link may be live
I've installed all the latest barry packages. My provider is Bell
Mobility (Canada) and the device is a blackberry. When I start the pppd
(using copies of Sprint scripts) it connets and I get an ipaddress, dns
name servers etc, but I can't ping anything down the link. Everything
