Columns

2018-02-13 Thread Mark Damon Hughes
I use MultiMarkdown tables, like this:

Name|A  |B  |C
|:--|:--|:--
Foo |1  |2  |3
Bar |4  |5  |6

The Edit->Columns->Rearrange Columns… option just gives an error:

BBEdit couldn’t guess what kind of column delimiter was in use. No
supported delimiters were found on the first line of the text.

I've tried changing the | to , in hopes that CSV would work, but it's not happy
with that, either. The manual doesn't give an example of valid tables.

Ideally, it'd just support MultiMarkdown | delimiters, but I'd settle for any
simple regex transform.

In order to use this command, the current document must contain
(only) a valid table in either comma- or tab-delimited (CSV or
TSV) format.

(It may grow smarter over time, but that's what it does today. :-)

My `bbdiff` is in `/usr/local/bin`:

```
sam@shiny ~> which bbdiff
/usr/local/bin/bbdiff
Maybe you can convince Dreamweaver to look for it there?
Dreamweaver is seriously out of date.
/usr/local/bin/bbdiff
Has been the location for years.
I didn’t even know Dreamweaver was till extant.
When BBEdit becomes active...
2018-02-13 Thread Benjamin Morin
It seems to me there is a third option that would be popular, along with,
"No nothing," and, "New text document."
"New text document if not opening an existing file."
The request comes from the fact that when opening an existing file, BBEdit
opens that file AND creates a new text document if you have "New text
document," selected.  Alternately, you can can get the desired behavior
when opening an existing file by selecting, "Do Nothing," but lose the
ability to start with a new document when not opening an existing file.
Ideally there would be a way to have the best of both setting and create a
new text document if activating without passing an existing file to open,
and to not create a new text document if in the process of opening an
existing file.
Thoughts?
Try /usr/local/bin/bbdiff
That's where mine is.
Looks like it could… will give it a shot next time thanks.
Pretty sure I checked BBEdit’s capabilities for XML tidying, but it would’ve
been a while ago.
