We went through the nightmare of having my younger Berner the Winter-boy
bloat over the Thanksgiving holiday. He came to wake us up at 1:00 am with
a fully bloated stomach, white gums (in shock) and obvious distress. It was
a frightening experience with a happy ending since we live two
Berner on TV news this morning in Cincinnati, Ohio Reindog parade.

Wow, I'm sorry to read of your frightening experience. My Rohan also bloated
over the TG holiday.
Roh never really came all the way back to his former level of activity. He
was 7 when he bloated, lived to be 9, and had several more rounds with bloat
sans torsion. Thank goodness his tummy tacking

Hi Patt,
You should have a board certified opthamologist look at Decker's eyes. The
instrument that regular vets use for examination are not powerful enough to
see most eye conditions. They are basically used to check the surface areas
of the eyes for inflammation or when dye testing for corneal

Oh Jim, I feel for you! We just lost our new girl to bloat about 2
weeks ago. She was a rescue we'd only had for about 2 months and then,
she was gone. It is so final. And the grief seems unbelievable. My
husband and I had no idea that our hearts could be swept away so quickly
by a new dog. I am
Well the 2002 litter have left for their new homes and is it ever quite
around here. We are busy trying to potty train our Eaglecaps Shadow Rider
or is he training us. We are using the training papers for the first time
and so far so good.
Enjoy the photos.

Last night I took the dogs out for their final run of the night and run they
did! Sure makes your heart sing to watch my 3 flat out -- the 2 big dogs
are low to the ground flying blurs. Devyn keeps up remarkably well, but
those long ears of his flapping wildly in the breeze just slow him down!
