We have a need to load a CDO package on our Exchange 2007 servers as we will be
installing Mail Security for Exchange, but due to a different requirement, it
needs to be newer than the version I currently have installed on my BES.
I had planned to use the version that RIM has marked as
I'm using the latest CDO with BES 5.0.3, but we are on Exchange 2010 SP1. No

Do I still need to concern myself with the version of CDO.DLL and MAPI32.DLL
when using Exchange 2007? I am told by the messaging team this version of
Exchange doesn't use those dll's any longer. I am wondering which version I
should have on the BES? I am running 5.03 MR4.

It's not needed on the Exchange server, but it is required on BES. There is a
compatibility matrix that RIM has, usually there is one supported and one
recommended version. The others are limited support. I've usually not had
issues, but there was one I didn't upgrade, and I ended up with log
